One of the most frightening stories around, a story told to make a birth mother whose baby adopted out look bad, and the adoptive parents good. It takes a lot of heart breaking understanding and time to find out why on earth a Christian bent arrives as a basis for such a film. The whole entire film seems to purposely not take into account the feelings of a birth mother, or what her individual situation may had been. Despite, the term onward Christian soldiers marching as if to war has turned another evil corner to take on a whole new meaning these days. It used to be that the soldiers marched out to find lost souls to spread the gospel of love. Now Christian soldiers intent on stomping down all opposition to the private needs, wants & desires of every birth mother and even birth father, Christian or other people working against the basic human rights of birth parents ~ A winner takes all mentality predominates most of this kind of a believer today. An outmoded belief system, perhaps a cruel army boot stomping upon the face of a birth mother to complete her silence gives a better picture than this film even begins to offer, and also therefore of a more present evil to battle. What single mother with even a smidgen of community support would not want to raise her own child, but who by now so emotionally bruised & discouraged by bitter, hateful, evil aggressors who only want to take her child for their own unfairly. Then there are the small towns who show the world how wizardry as opposed to the ruins of how Christianity wins by destroying the hope & faith of others, the critic agrees with the final prognosis of Roger Ebert who noted that short emotional propaganda clips used throughout the film upheld all adoptive parents whether who used conscionable or underhanded means to adopt. The use of an amateur and immature and thus ungainly way as again the film seemed to fail, and purposely so to consider the intent and want of birth mothers and the details of that general population therein, especially and even in situations where police showed up at the door of a birth father and threatened him for example to sign away his child or face incarceration. A town where police refuse protection of abused women based on politics, where the same turn around and whose years long history and therefore statewide known reputation for unjust purchase of adoptive child for money stance, bribes of a politics only social climate, just as a cruel and dominating male view only church theology, these and other mysteries seem to make the town let alone the adoptive parents a bad situation for the girl all the way around. The final blow of the presumed Christian film which shows no compassion whatsoever for the birth mother insinuates that every single unmarried pregnant woman who in a day & age when this is actually a majority statistic, that such a birth mother is a bad, or evil human being who will not make a good parent. Also, that marriage to a man the magic powder which may instantly provide a mother of her child enough good parenting skills to raise that child, even common-sense tells you what almost every good nurse says to a new birth mom. Don’t be afraid. God built this into every woman. It will just come naturally. Although I gave this film three stars, even that misnomer on that the film likely three stars too many. A true work of October Halloween fright for poor technical film composition, and was said to do poorly at the box office anyway, should get none, based on the secondary cruel horror alone that the adoptive daughter is encouraged to hate her birth mother. The contradiction of the Christian film, where the very bible of these people contains a commandment to honor your parents, that and the insinuation that every last single single mother who gets pregnant & has ever lived, rejects her child in the womb, tries to have her aborted and that when that fails just does whatever she can to give her child away, as if just getting rid of her child. The film instead, a movie which wants to down abortion, makes a farce of itself instead for a cruel and strange attack on single parenthood, & more specifically on single women as parents.
