Now that the elderly female panhandler’s confrontational video out of Oklahoma City has gone viral, Fox is reporting on Monday that the woman was approached by a photo-journalist who was rudely told by the panhandler that she doesn’t own the car. Yet, the woman gives no explanation as to why she was caught driving a brand new 2013 vehicle near the location where she panhandles regularly. The video that has gone viral shows a man confronting the elderly woman while she is in a car that is obviously much nicer than cars owned by the many people who have been helping her out via her panhandling on the street.
Details surrounding the video involve Daniel Ayala who is the man who confronted the woman last week. He reportedly works two jobs to make ends meet but is generous in giving handouts to people who are sincerely in need. On the video, he is heard telling the woman that he has given her $3 or $4 recently, and then he goes on to threaten her vehicle if he sees it around there again. Needless to say, he was shocked and outraged when he saw the woman appearing to be doing better than him – and better than other people who have been generous enough to help her out. The 78-year-old widow he confronted stands on the median to the entrance to Quail Springs Mall on Pennsylvania Avenue in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The woman holds a sign while standing in the middle of the roadway which asserts that she is in need of financial assistance as she collects money from passers-by.
The person who video recorded the confrontation between Ayala and the elderly panhandler is also a person who feels scammed by the woman. The lady who made the video of the confrontation between the two also has given money to the woman in the past. KFOR-TV has caught up with the woman who was at her game again since the recorded incident went viral on YouTube. She screamed at the photo-journalist, “I don’t have no car. Get the hell away from me right now,” as she swung her arm at the photo-journalist’s camera.
This occurred days after Ayala approached the elderly woman and said, “You ask for money in the middle of the street and you’re driving a 2013 car!” Since that comment and the recording that was posted on YouTube, the woman’s family took to Facebook to call the video outrageous. The video, incidentally, has garnered in excess of 2 million views according to an ABC report. The family reportedly defends the woman by saying that she has a panhandler’s permit. For many, it is the first time they’ve ever heard of such a thing as a panhandler’s permit – and they wonder how panhandlers manage to pay municipalities for them. Others, of course, are simply saying, “My God, the woman is 78-years-old and she has family who won’t help her enough to get her off the streets?” The very unusual story continues.
