“But He [Jesus] was pierced for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with his stripes we are healed.” – Isaiah 53:5
Two Saturday mornings ago, my wife and I woke up to a beautiful rainbow that appeared on our bedroom wall and went all the way up to the ceiling. I got up and looked outside our bedroom window to see if this was a reflection of something outside; but indeed, there was no sign of an outside rainbow or anything that would indicate this was a reflection.
As we gazed at the rainbow inside our bedroom, a word appeared on our wall. We recognized it as a Hebrew word, but weren’t familiar with this term. It took some pressing in for revelation, which we did receive. God Himself, with His very Finger wrote the word piyd (pr. peed) on our bedroom wall, which means “calamity, lack, misfortune” (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance). We grew a bit concerned by its meaning, until we researched deeper, and saw that this word came from an unused origin “to pierce.”
It then clicked for us! The Lord was saying that He had given us His authority to pierce through calamity, lack, and misfortune! Most of us rebuke, bind, and cast out these things (which is also appropriate); but how many of us actually pierce these ill and unwanted contenders? We didn’t until that morning.
This Divine knowledge and instruction put us in a whole new realm of authority over these miscreants! And now we are sharing this revelation with you, so that you can also start using your God-given authority, to ravage and skewer those things that have been ravaging and piercing you! Turn the piercing on the piercers, family! The tide and the tables have turned in your favor! Jesus already took our piercing for us, so we now have victory over every area of lack, calamity, and misfortune that attempts to rise up against us!
Webster’s Dictionary defines “pierce” as to “to run into or through as a pointed weapon does, to enter or thrust into sharply or painfully, to make a hole through, to force or make a way into or through, to penetrate with the eye or mind.” Wow! Don’t stay there, my brother! Don’t wallow in it, my sister! Run through it with your Sword of the Lord (Word of God) out in front of you! Rip that shyster into pieces! Shred through that loser like a sheet of paper!
When you are “going through hell,” do just that—GO THROUGH. Too many people say they are “going through,” but what they are really doing is staying stuck! It’s sad to me how many dear brothers and sisters I talk to who say “Oh Brother Matt, I am going through…,” when what they really mean is that they are staying stuck by stumbling in their situation and circumstance rather than piercing through and grabbing the spoils on the way out!
Are you penetrating your situation with the mind of Christ, or are you attempting to pierce that thing with the dull blade of a natural mind? Nothing less than the sharp mind of the Sovereign Savior will get the job done.
The psalmist King David grabs hold of the lordship of our Jehovah Sabaoth (Lord of hosts, Lord over the army) as He comes into agreement with Heaven itself: “You [The Lord God Almighty] prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows” (Psalm 23:5).
How’s your battle going, my brother? What battle plan are you employing, my sister? Let’s put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18). When we put on the mind of Christ, then the gates of hell cannot prevail against us! (Matthew 16:18).
Father, right now we pick up your Sword and pierce every situation, circumstance, mindset, attitude, and thing that attempts to exalt itself against You. We bind our will to Your Will and we bind our mind to the mind of Christ. We loose every wrong pattern of thinking, every defeating strategy, and every emotion, and we cast these ineffective hindrances into outer darkness; and in their place, we call forth the infilling to overflowing of Your Most Holy Spirit. In Jesus Name, we thank You that we now have your Divine Battle Plan, which causes us to win every time! Because You are for us no one and no thing can stand against us! (Romans 8:31). Amen and Amen!
Take action! Challenge your thinking! Choose to pick up your spear, your Sword of the Lord, and begin to pierce through every area of lack, calamity, and misfortune in your life. Determine that you will renew your mind daily with the mind of Christ, and you will take captive and cast down every thought that attempts to exalt itself against the Most High God (Romans 12:2, 2 Corinthians 10:5). And continue to fight the good fight of remembering why Christ died for you; for God, your Supreme and Undefeatable Ally, has already given you the victory!
If you have never received Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, I encourage you to do it today, right now, by saying this prayer out loud: “Jesus, forgive me for my sins. I am sorry. I truly desire to be saved and reconciled back to God, my Father, through You. I receive Your sinless Blood as payment in full for my sins—past, present, and future. I now call You my Lord and Savior, and invite You to live within my heart, and to permanently live within me. I make You Lord over me and over my life from this moment on. Amen.” Congratulations! You are now a child of God, made whole and made new, by the Blood of Jesus Christ!
