In an article published this afternoon on MailOnline, Piers Morgan, an icon of the far-left and long-time champion of Barack Obama’s policies, absolutely excoriates the president for indecisiveness that has placed America in danger. Morgan penned the article in response to a statement made by President Obama at $32,000-per-plate fundraiser in New York. During the event, Obama told the crowd of fellow Democrats that, “There’s a sense possibly that the world is spinning so fast and nobody is able to control it.”
Morgan began the article by saying, “If you’re President of the United States, and therefore unofficial Leader of the Free World, then your most important job every day is to make everyone feel calm and secure even as chaos reigns. POTUS is supposed to be a global figurehead for stability. That’s why when George W Bush was told about the second World Trade Center attack while sitting in a classroom full of kids, he didn’t jump up and race out of the room. He remained sitting, determined not to exude fear or panic in front of the cameras. It’s what Presidents have to do. That’s also why Martin Sheen’s character President Jed Bartlet in the West Wing was so popular – he took everything, even being shot, in his easy, confident, reassuring stride.”
As surprising as it may be to hear Piers Morgan criticizing Barack Obama, what may be even more surprising is that he praised George W. Bush, and used the former president as an example of the calm and control a commander in chief must display publicly. Bush’s reaction when told of the World Trade Center attack has often been used as a point of criticism by the left. Bush was accused of not acting quickly and many of his detractors declared his calm demeanor was proof that he was unfit to serve as POTUS. Apparently Morgan doesn’t agree. He does, however, have a lot to say about President Obama’s hypocrisy, and the countless times his inaction has led to problems for the US.
Morgan continued, “Really, Mr President? You think what we all need to hear that from you right now is that the whole planet’s going to hell in a handcart? YOU’RE the guy who’s supposed to be controlling it!
Perversely, Obama then went on to infer he HAS got everything under control, boasting of how America’s had to tackle just about every major problem facing the world right now – ISIS, Ebola, Russia, climate change – virtually on its own. Interestingly, he also deployed the word ‘we’ as he took credit throughout this speech – in direct contrast to the word ‘they’ he deployed last week when chucking his intelligence agencies under the bus for NOT stopping the rise of ISIS. I’ve never trusted bosses who say ‘we’ when talking about supposed success and ‘they’ when talking about failure.”
“I trust Obama even less when he talks up way he’s dealt with ISIS, Ebola and Russia as some kind of triumph. In every case, the glaring warning signs were ignored until it was way too late. ISIS is now on the rampage throughout the Middle East, Russia grabbed Crimea and is trying hard to grab vast swathes of Ukraine, and Ebola’s both out of control and now on American soil.”
For once, Morgan has it dead right. In the past he has been known as one of Obama’s most enthusiastic cheerleaders, and one of the president’s biggest apologists. Several media. It seems more and more people on the left are beginning to see Barry for the ineffectual failure his opponents have always said he was. Many Democrats facing tight races in the upcoming mid-terms have privately told the president to stay away. They don’t want to be seen with him on the campaign trail.
But Morgan wasn’t finished, we went on to say, “All this comes as former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta gave a damning verdict on Obama’s leadership skills, particularly over Syria, in his new book. Obama, of course, vowed to hit Syria hard militarily if they ‘crossed the red line’ and used chemical weapons, but then did nothing when Assad promptly used them to kill 1,400 of his own people.
‘It was the right thing to do,’ said Panetta, ‘but once he did that, the credibility of the United States is on the line. It was important for us to stand by our word and go in and do what a commander in chief should do.’”
Morgan then concluded the piece with a laundry list of broken promises by President Obama, and said, “Obama seems to have a lot of trouble standing by his word…As a father of four children, I’ve learned the hard way that the number one rule of parenting is never break a promise to your son or daughter. If you say you’re going to do something, then do it. By not keeping his promises, Obama has emboldened Assad, Putin and ISIS on the foreign stage. And made America less safe.”
