“Project Runway” (Lifetime) can be seen each Thursday evening at 9/8 p.m. The episode “Finale Part 2” is tonight Oct. 23, 2014 & the winner will be announced. There are four contestants left in the competition showing their designs at “fashion week.” They include, Char Glover, Amanda Valentine, Kini Zamora & Sean Kelly.
According to “Fashion One” four eliminated contestants also got a chance to show their designs at “Fashion Week.” Sandyha Garg, Korina Emmerich, Emily Payne & Alexander Knox.
Puyallup tribal descendent Korina Emmerich was eliminated from “Project Runway.” She was accused of lying about being an enrolled tribal member by reporter Matt Nagle (Oct. 15, 2014 story). He is the editor of “The Puyallup Tribal News.” A tribe council member named Maggie Edwards told Matt, “I double-checked with Enrollment, when the Native Internet news started carrying the story. She is not on our rolls, therefore not an enrolled member. It would be one thing to call herself a descendent of a Puyallup, if she were even that, but she clearly says she is a Puyallup.”
Matt also wrote that, “The Puyallup Tribal News attempted to speak with Korina Emmerich to discuss her lineage and possible Puyallup connections but she did not respond.”
Korina responded on the very post thread (Oct. 19, 2014) at “Indianz.com.” Here is part of her statement, “I would firstly like to stress to you that I never claimed to be a member, and was extremely up front on the show that I am part American Indian. I am not an enrolled member, I have never claimed to be an enrolled member. My family has documentation of ancestry related to the Puyallups.”
“I am also highly disappointed that you (Matt) claim I have ignored your request for an interview. We had an interview set up by Kristine Tiongco from ‘Project Runway’ set for 11 a.m. on August 26th (2014) and you never called, or emailed, or made any effort. Because of my strict contractual obligations to the show. I am not allowed to contact press without a 3rd party from A&E networks on the phone. So for someone who makes assumptions, as a writer and a journalist you should check your facts. I also told Kristine that I am not an enrolled member, and she said you would like to do the interview regardless. You are the one who didn’t call, you are the one who – did not respond.”
