With the ratings out for the week of August 18th through August 22nd, 2014 showing The Young and the Restless performing best out of the four network daytime dramas with Y&R gaining +69,000 in total viewers bringing its tally to 4,468,000. and in women 18-49 adding +86,000, it left General Hospital in second place with Y&R over 150,000 up on GH.
Why you ask. I can only suggest that this is one soap that does not forget it’s characters dead or alive. Where else can you see a remembrance of one of the most beloved characters, Katherine Chancellor played by Jeanne Cooper, a year after her death with the promise of more next year? Other soaps lost loved ones DOOL lost Alice Horton who should be remembered and Lila and Edward Quartermaine on GH. They may be mentioned as an afterthought but Y&R loves and remembers their “loved ones”.
They also remember the people who were made famous on their show like Shemar Moore who will be back to visit after 10 years. Daytime Emmy winner Shemar who also stars on CBS’ hit show Criminal Minds will arrive in Genoa City on September 10th and 11th episodes.
CBS and Y&R thanks “For the first time in a decade, we’re giving you Moore!” and for remembering the jewel in the crown that was Jeanne Cooper.
Y&R can be seen weekdays on CBS at 12:30 p.m.
