After being on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” for four seasons, Kyle Richards is probably used to getting criticized by all sorts of people for the silliest reasons. However, the latest cause of criticism likely has even the tough-skinned housewife scratching her head. The cause of people’s furor? Cake pops.
On Saturday, June 28, Kyle posted a photo of some Chanel cake pops that she had a dessert company make for her for a party. The white cake pops, decorated with black Cs arranged like the luxury brand logo, have rhinestone handles. Kyle wrote on her Facebook post that she’s in love with the mini desserts.
The cake pops struck a chord with her followers and fans, as it has received almost 500 shares and more than 300 comments. While much of the shares and comments were over how cute the cake pops are and a desire to have them, there were also a lot of critical comments deeming the cake pops a waste of money. Some people bashed Kyle over her decision to use her money for them instead of towards more useful causes.
One person asked Kyle how many homeless people she’ll feed with the pops. Another person took the desserts as evidence of how much people in California are spoiled and not in touch with the real world. Another wrote that the money spent on the cake pops could have went towards a good cause like feeding a small country. One person even wrote that the cake pops are the lamest thing he has seen since Kim Kardashian’s sex tape.
Many were quick to defend Kyle against the critics. They wrote that people are just jealous and haters. Others pointed out that Kyle has a right to do whatever she wants with her money and that people have no idea how much she and her husband, Mauricio Umansky, give to charity. One person also wrote that the cake pops aren’t expensive to do, in reference to many people’s assumptions that cake pops with the Chanel logo on it are as expensive as actual Chanel handbags.
It’s likely that viewers will see the cake pops on TV as co-star Yolanda Foster said recently that filming for “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” season five began a few days ago. After getting such attention for the product from social media, the dessert company, Infiniti Sweets, no doubt owes Kyle Richards a big thanks. Of course, the company could have made them for free in exchange for publicity, which certainly seems to have paid off big time.
