Rob Kardashian has been vocal about his weight loss struggles, but new reports now claim his dramatic recent weight gain was due in part to a disturbing drug problem.
Sources claim Kardashian has been using the anti-anxiety drug Xanax and the painkillers Norco and Percocet to treat his depression.
“He’d just lie around his place smoking weed, doing drugs, watching movies and eating,” sources told InTouch. “He said he needed the pills.”
Rob’s Serotonin Level Is Almost Nonexistent
Rob, 27, admitted on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” that he was extremely depressed after reportedly gaining more than 70 pounds. Sister Kourtney said Rob’s serotonin levels had plummeted to dangerously low levels.
The 5-foot-11 Rob, who has repeatedly referred to himself as “Fat Boy,” reportedly weighs more than 260 pounds. It’s a stark contrast to the buff build he sported in 2012. Sources say Rob had holed himself up in his L.A. condo doing drugs, smoking weed, watching movies, and binge-eating in the weeks leading up to Kim’s May 24 wedding.
Rob then skipped the wedding at the last minute because he was depressed over his weight gain and felt uncomfortable around the slim, attractive guests at the star-studded ceremony. However, it seems Kardashian may be turning a corner.
Celebrity trainer Gunnar Peterson said he and Rob recently kick-started a strict weight-loss regimen that includes daily hour-long workouts. Peterson, creator of Core Secrets: 25 Minute Full Body Workout, helped Khloe lose 30 pounds last year, and helped Kim lose 56 pounds on a low-carb, high-fat ketogenic-inspired diet.
Gunnar said Rob is more determined than ever to get healthy and lean. “[Rob] will start seeing and feeling it in a couple of weeks and will see major changes in six to eight weeks,” said Peterson.
LCHF Ketogenic-Style Atkins Diet Fueled Kim’s Weight Loss
Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian has been looking more bootylicious than ever since losing 56 pounds just six months after giving birth to daughter North.
Kim followed a low-carb, high-fat (LCHF) ketogenic-inspired Atkins diet that limited her daily carb intake to less than 60 grams.
The ketogenic diet is a high-fat, low-carb, moderate-protein diet with a macronutrient breakdown of roughly 65% fat, 5% carbs and 30% protein. Focusing on healthy fats and limiting carbs promotes weight loss by causing the body to burn body fat for fuel, said Maria Emmerich, author of Keto Adapted.
Kim’s daily menu combined proteins like fish, chicken and meat; healthy fats like olive oil, avocados and nuts; low-starch vegetables, and some low-glycemic fruits like berries, Linda O’Byrne, chief nutritionist for Atkins Nutritionals, told me.
O’Byrne said LCHF diets suppress appetite better than low-fat diets, so you don’t feel hungry all the time. “Low-carb diets keep blood sugar levels stable and prevent food cravings,” said Linda.
