Rob Kardashian has stepped up his workouts as part of an intense weight loss plan to shed more than 70 pounds.
Kardashian is hitting the gym every day doing an hour of interval training combined with weight-lifting and cardio exercise, said celebrity trainer Gunnar Peterson.
“We’re doing intervals with strength movements: squats, the sled, swings and push presses,” Peterson told People. “It’s about getting his heart rate up and keeping it up. Rob knows exactly what to do. He’s worked out [before] and he’s focused.”
‘Works Out in Beast Mode’
Gunnar expects to see huge changes in Kardashian’s appearance over the next two months. The 5-foot-11 Rob reportedly weighs more than 260 pounds.
“[Rob] will start seeing and feeling it in a couple of weeks and will see major changes in six to eight weeks,” said Peterson. “Rob works out in beast mode. I know he can do this.”
While Kardashian has a long road ahead, Gunnar is confident Rob will regain his once chiseled physique. In addition to daily workouts, Peterson had Rob overhaul his diet and get enough sleep.
“The key to success is staying with it,” said Gunnar. “Everybody goes through adversity. My job is to be there for him and to love him as hard as I can.”
Rob recently made headlines after skipping sister Kim’s wedding at the last minute. Sources said Rob was depressed over his rumored 100-pound weight gain and felt uncomfortable around the slim, attractive guests at the star-studded ceremony.
But now, Kardashian is more determined than ever to regain the buff physique he had in 2012. “Rob is locked and loaded,” said Peterson.
Gunnar, creator of Core Secrets: 25 Minute Full Body Workout, helped Khloe lose 30 pounds last year. He also trains Kim Kardashian, who lost 56 pounds in six months on a low-carb, ketogenic-style Atkins diet.
Kim Kardashian’s Weight Loss Fueled By Ketogenic-Inspired Diet
Kim, 33, looks phenomenal since losing 56 pounds just six months after giving birth to daughter North. She followed a ketogenic-style low-carb Atkins diet that limited her daily carb intake to about 50 grams.
While Kim’s diet was not technically ketogenic because it should have limited carbs to 18 grams on an 1,800-calorie-a-day diet to technically be keto, experts say most people can achieve ketosis on 50 grams of carbs a day.
The ketogenic diet is a high-fat, low-carb, moderate-protein diet that has been shown to produce rapid weight loss without hunger and fight disease.
Kim’s daily Atkins meal plan combined proteins like fish, chicken and meat; healthy fats like olive oil, avocados and nuts; low-starch vegetables, and some low-glycemic fruits like berries, Linda O’Byrne, chief nutritionist for Atkins Nutritionals, told me.
Focusing on healthy fats and limiting carbs promotes weight loss by inducing the body to burn body fat for fuel, said Maria Emmerich, author of Keto Adapted.
Kardashian also exercises almost every single day, combining rigorous cardio workouts with strength-training and lots of squats. She is proud of the hard work she has put in, and slammed rumors that she got weight-loss or other plastic surgery to slim down.
“It sucks when people make up plastic surgery or Photoshop lies when I am so disciplined and work so hard,” Kim tweeted. “I’m just trying to motivate others and show anyone struggling with weight they can totally achieve whatever they want if they are dedicated! I worked out so hard and this was such a challenge for me but I did it!”
