Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Sixth Squad detectives are asking for the public’s help in information that could lead to an arrest of a suspect responsible for 2 robberies that occurred in September at two Port Jefferson Station businesses. The first robbery occurred Friday, September 19, 2014.
A man entered Family Dollar located at 526 Route 112 at the Jefferson Shopping Plaza. The suspect approached the register at approximately 9:40 a.m and demanded cash. The suspect displayed a knife to the Family Dollar employee in the process. The second robbery happened on September 23, 2014, at approximately 8: 15 p.m. The suspect entered the Carvel ice cram store at 407 Route 112. The suspect demanded cash from the employee, who complied with the demand. The suspect fled on foot with an unknown amount of cash in this second robbery.
The suspect wanted in the Family Dollar and Carvel store robberies is described as possibly a white or light-skinned Hispanic male, between 5 feet ten inches tall to 6 feet 2 inches tall, with a thin build and a small black moustache.
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
In a possible unrelated incident a Hispanic male entered the GNC vitamin store on Monday September 29, 2014 at approximately 7:30 p.m. The GNC store is located in the Jefferson Shopping Plaza at 560 Route 112 in the Jefferson Shopping Plaza. Suffolk County Police describe the male in the GNC robbery as a Hispanic male 5’6” wearing a black bandana on his head. Cops also said his had a handgun in his waistband.
A fourth robbery occurred on Sunday evening at Kool Mart convenience store at 600 Hallock Ave. According to police, a male entered the store at about 7:43 p.m and demanded cash from the employee. The employee complied with the man’s demand and the robber fled on foot, possibly northbound on Olympia Street, police said.
The robber in the Kool Mart convenience store robbery is described as white, in his mid 20s, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-9. He was wearing black pants, a black fleece hoodie with the hood up, and a brown stocking cap style mask on his head at the time of the robbery, police said.
