The Rolling Stones rocked a sold out audience on Oct. 25 in Adelaide, Australia. The legendary British rockers dazzled 53,300 adoring fans at the city’s massive newly renovated stadium as they launched their much anticipated ’14 On Fire Tour’ leg of Australia and New Zealand.
According to a new release posted Oct. 25 at their official website at RollingStones.com, the World’s Greatest Rock N’ Roll Band treated fans in Adelaide to a hit packed 19-song setlist. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers original Down Under trek was rescheduled from earlier this year after the tour leg was abruptly postponed, following the tragic death of frontman Mick Jagger’s longtime girlfriend L’Wren Scott.
Highlights included the debut performance of Karl Denson, who recently replaced longtime Stones sideman on sax for the tour due to health issues. Ex-Stone Mick Taylor received a good work out as special guest. The veteran blues guitarist sat in on “Midnight Rambler,” as well as on the encore “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.” During the encore a fan ran onto the stage, but the security guards tackle him and he was escorted off the premises. Jagger quipped, “All part of the act, some Aussies Rules tackling!”
Local guest artists the Young Adelaide Voices and the Adelaide Chamber Singers were recruited to perform with The Stones on “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” and Bob Dylan’s “Like a Rolling Stone” was performed as Adelaide’s favourite Stones’ song in an online poll. See below for full setlist details.
Presented by Frontier Touring in association with AEG Live, the Down Under trek continues next in Perth, Australia with two shows on Oct. 29 and Nov. 1 at Perth Arena. For more information, click here.
