Sadie Robertson danced a beautiful rumba last week with pro partner Mark Ballas on “Dancing with the Stars.” Afterwards, you could see tears flowing from the young reality star in her most emotional moment so far this season. In a recent interview with TV Guide that was posted on Sunday, she explained what made the tears flow and why viewers got to see her raw emotions.
The 17-year-old reality star talked about how hard it was for her trying to do a ‘sexy dance’ without actually being sexy. She had butted heads a bit with Ballas on the moves that make up the rumba that he told her would make the judges score higher. In keeping with Robertson’s strong Christian values, it was difficult for the pro dancer to work with his teen partner to comply with her comfort level. Oh, and there is also the comfort level of her daddy, Willie Robertson.
The whole Robertson family has become quite close to Mark Ballas during this season of “Dancing with the Stars.” They all got to know each other and get along quite famously. However, Ballas still has a job to do and that is trying to achieve high scores from the judges. This all put added pressure on the “Duck Dynasty” star. She told Ballas that she was okay with getting bad scores as long as she was comfortable with her dance. Her nerves got the best of her that night expecting to be ‘ripped to shreds’ by the four judges.
However, she was quite surprised that they were all respectful of her interpretation of the not-so-sexy rumba. It turned out to be more of a romantic dance and that seemed to be okay with them because the Quack Pack, as the pair is called, got a score of 35 out of 40. Robertson hid her face with tears in her eyes after it was all over with.
“When they were so respectful of the dance and they loved it and appreciated me standing up for what I believed in, I just kind of felt like God blessed me with the judges liking the dance,” she told TV Guide. “It just paid off to do the right thing, and it just made me really emotional to finally get the hardest dance so far, in my opinion, out of the way and just be done with it. It felt really good.”
On tonight’s “Dancing with the Stars,” Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas will be doing the paso doble with Ballas portraying a zombie scaring his partner in a Halloween-themed dance. They will also take part in the team dance which has been deemed Team Creepy. The show continues on Monday nights at 8 p.m. on ABC.
