Sandra Bullock, one of the most beloved actresses in the entertainment industry, celebrated her 50th birthday with her closest friends. The fit and fabulous Bullock tried to keep it simple, according to a friend who explained that “she sometimes likes to just act like a normal person,” reported MSN on July 28.
But it’s difficult to stay low-key when one of your friends is Chelsea Handler. Bullock’s publicity-happy pal posted photos on Instagram showing the birthday girl displaying her backside to the camera.
“There were probably six to ten women in the group. It appeared to be a ladies night,” a source told E News on July 28. “They all had one drink…and were all dressed casually.”
As for Bullock’s appearance? “Sandra looked radiant, beautiful and was very sweet. It looked like she was having a blast.”
But the actress has earned that “beautiful” exterior with hours of exercise and diligent dieting, reports Shape magazine. “I pushed my body to the extreme. Strength-wise, I had to know I could do anything [the director] asked of me at any given point, so not a day went by that we didn’t train,” said Bullock about her workouts for “Gravity.”
Bullock’s celebrity trainer is Simone de la Rue, who has created dance-based workouts to help her clients slim down and shape up. She recently shared her secrets in a new book: “Body By Simone: The 8-Week Total Body Makeover Plan.”
In an exclusive interview, Simone revealed the approach that she takes to diet and fitness. It includes spending time with friends, because she says taking care of yourself includes sharing “that joy with your friends.”
When it comes to weight loss, she advocates clean eating and following a sugar-free low carb diet. Her advice echoes that of David Kirsch, trainer to celebrities such as Kate Upton and Heidi Klum.
“By limiting your sugar and gluten intake and your alcohol and dairy intake you are cleansing your system and allowing your body to digest properly. By eating whole, organic real foods rather than processed foods you can detox your system, and you’ll look and feel better,” Simone said.
In addition to the fitness and clean eating program, Simone’s book includes a two-week kick-start cleanse, which offers unique benefits for health and weight loss. “It really is a detox to clean out your gut and detoxify your body, by eliminating certain foods that your body holds onto or is even allergic to,” explained Simone.
The keys to completing the cleanse: Eliminate caffeine and sugar. At the end of the two weeks, “your skin glows, your eyes shine, your hair and nails grow, and you sleep better. You have more energy and you feel lighter and alive,” she said enthusiastically.
