Sarah Palin, the former governor of Alaska and former Republican vice presidential candidate of 2008, said that she hopes to run for political office again one day. At the time she made the statement, she urged Republican leaders throughout the nation to have more guts in pursuing their agenda. According to Yahoo! News on Tuesday, Palin was interviewed on Fox Business Network.
In typical Palin-speak, she said that she is invigorated by those who criticize her. She said her critics inspire her to want to work so hard for justice in this country. She asserted that the more they are pouring on the more she is going to bug “the crap” out of them by being out there with a voice and with a message. Then she concluded that thought with the words, “<and> hopefully running for office in the future, too.” According to an NBC report, Palin has grabbed headlines again by saying she will run for office again to annoy her “haters.”
According to Mediaite, Fox’s Stuart Varney asked about dealing with the mockery she has been subjected to for more than six year, “And this is a personal question, what does it feel like?” To that, she said that a lot of people have it a heck of a lot harder than the Palins do. She said that liberals love to play the politics and personal destruction. “They do want to destroy personally those they disagree with,” she said, and added, “They are very, very intolerant of those who maybe hold opposing views to their liberal, failed agenda views. So they want to crush us.” When the host of the show said that she is the target of the alleged “war on women,” she said, “Absolutely!”
Sarah Palin hasn’t been in political office since 2009. At that time, she resigned as governor of Alaska during her only term in that office. She surprised many people by not seeking political office of any type in 2012. It was widely believed that her actions prior to 2012 were indicating a definite run for president. That never happened. Some took a negative view of the story, such as PoliticusUSA which headlined their version of the story as “Sarah Palin Threatens America By Suggesting That She May Run For Office Again.”
Regardless, Palin has successfully stayed in the spotlight with her political views. Additionally, via reality television, she has stayed relevant in American society. Most recently, she appears on political talk programs giving her heavy-handed criticism of those on the left, including President Barack Obama. She favors tea party politicians such as Ted Cruz and Mike Lee. The Huffington Post report on the story quoted Palin as calling both Cruz and Lee “good leaders.”
