Shiseido’s latest IBUKI Refining Moisturizer is marketed to renew the skin’s surface, leaving you with amazingly smooth skin which is guaranteed to be hydrated all day. It is also guaranteed to correct the appearance of uneven skintone which is caused by various DNA damage.
When I first heard about a refining moisturizer that promised various results which were virtually right away, I just knew I had to try it. Recently, when shopping on Nordstrom I discovered Shiseido’s IBUKI Refining Moisturizer. So, what did I think?
One thing that I loved most about this moisturizer is the fact that the formula is so light, I felt as if I was using a serum. Serums tend to be stronger to lotions because they sink into the skin faster and I felt as if IBUKI sunk into my skin like a second skin immediately.
The hydration that this refining moisturizer produces absorbs instantaneously. And because of the consistency, which is like a serum (very creamy, yet light), I felt that the moisturizing part occurred in the same way. It’s very rare to discover a moisturizer that is a lot like a serum yet still promotes hydration.
I have been using this moisturizing product for about two weeks and I have noticed that there is an improvement in my skin’s overall appearance. Not only has it diminished blemish marks, but my pores are not as visible as they were before.
The optics in this product are very faint and although they are not modestly visible, this moisturizer still gives you a luminous yet healthy glow, which I really enjoy.
This product has a nice clean smell, which I enjoy. It isn’t overpowering. Some products you can smell the chemicals in them, but with this one you cannot.
One thing to appreciate about this new addition to Shiseido is the fact that it is free of parabens, sulfates, and phthalates.
Some people love heavy moisturizers, whereas; others prefer light moisturizers. IBUKI is a lighter moisturizer and because of this, if you prefer something heavier, more than likely you will not like this one.
If you have oily skin, this moisturizer is not something I would recommend. Although it isn’t heavy, it will not control oil. Although my skin gets incredibly oily during the Summer months, I noticed shortly after working out at the gym that this moisturizer had no control over oily skin.
Although sensitive skin wearers will have a different reaction to this, my skin has always been sensitive to some degree. I didn’t notice any weird reactions to wearing this like I did with other moisturizers, however; I did notice that when I use this product without using my standard serum that I did breakout a little bit.
This product is available through Shiseido or your nearest Shiseido realtor for $45. Would I use this product again? Yes, but only during the Fall and Winter months. Would I recommend this product to a friend? Yes, but only for those with dry, dry/combination, and combination skin.
