The season 6 finale of “Sons of Anarchy” was explosive. Fans are looking forward to finding out what will happen in the seventh and final season. On Aug. 11, TV Equals posted videos of some of the cast as well as creator Kurt Sutter discussing the show.
Katey Sagal plays Gemma on “SOA” and the actress had some interesting things to say about her character. She revealed that the “Sons of Anarchy” season 7 premiere will begin two weeks after the season finale ended. Just like Gemma always does, she will make the decision on what she needs to do to protect her family. She revealed that Tara’s murder was not premeditated, which is what viewers understood. Gemma truly believed that she was being betrayed. That along with Nero breaking up with her created the perfect storm and Tara’s death was the end result.
Gemma will be saying one thing, but will have a completely different dialogue in her head. Make no mistake, she loved Tara and has a lot of empathy for her son. Even though she created the problem, that doesn’t mean that she isn’t grieving.
Kurt Sutter also spoke about season 7 of “Sons of Anarchy.” He said that Jax is going to be the most proactive he has ever been. His character will be different when the show returns. Previously, Jax reacted to the chaos, but this season, fans will see Jax with a singular purpose. He also said that the show is ultimately about family. He explained,
“At its core, and I don’t say this flippantly, this is a family drama. It’s just that our circumstances are heightened. The show is pulp fiction so there’s a sort of epic, almost absurd quality to the show and then it also takes place in a very dangerous world. So, to me, it’s the same family dynamics that perhaps play out in other families but under these conditions, in that world, you see the results that happened. What might end up being an argument or a plate being smashed in another family becomes a fork in the back of the head in our family.”
Drea de Matteo, who plays Wendy, also spoke about her character and season 7. In the beginning, she was an addict and feels her character got a bad rap. When everyone hated Wendy, the truth was she was the innocent one. Even though she was an addict, she was broken, not mean spirited. Wendy is redeeming herself and trying to make herself better. She would like to have the same strength as Gemma, but she isn’t anything like her. She also added that Wendy isn’t deceitful or manipulative.
Drea also said that Wendy is done with scheming and has no plans on taking her son away from Jax. She knows she messed up and just wants to be involved in his life in any capacity.
As for Unser, even though he is in love with Gemma, it might be difficult for him to forgive her for murdering Tara. He will be dealing with the new sheriff who knocks on his door and tells him he is still a cop. He said that Unser’s story will have a plot and it sounds like it will revolve around Tara’s murder.
Other “Sons of Anarchy” season 7 spoilers that were revealed include something big happening in the fourth episode. Executive producer Paris Barclay said that fans won’t want to miss that one. Also, by the season finale there will be deaths. Of the actors that were present, Barclay said two of them would be meeting their end. The actors that were in attendance were:
- Katey Sagal (Gemma)
- Kim Coates (Tig)
- Tommy Flanagan (Chibs)
- Mark Boone, Jr. (Bobby)
- Dayton Callie (Unser)
- Theo Rossi (Juice)
- David Labrava (Happy)
- Niko Nicotera (Ratboy)
- Drea de Matteo (Wendy)
