Halloween week is the time for spirits to be floating about and high levels of increased energy. But you can experience getting in tune with a very different form of spirit today in Frederick, MD with SpiritFest.
Held at the Delaplaine Arts Center on Carroll Street, SpiritFest will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. This is your time to delve deeper into spirit wellness and discover what works best for you. Concentration areas include massage, acupuncture, Reiki, tarot cards, mediums, crystals, free workshops, and more.
SpiritFest will start out at 11 a.m. with two opportunities taking place in two different rooms. In Room 1 you will find Shamanic Dream-Play to Manifest Your Desires. Join Claudette Knox as she leads you through a “structured dream” in which you will leave your body through meditation and transcend into an “inner garden.” By correcting or improving things in your inner garden, you will change your outer life for the better. Room 2 will present Lifting Your Vibe through Energy Healing. Ken Cook and Mona Thiel will help you explore the energy of who you are as an individual as well as expansive oneness. You will experience your personal energy centers called chakras and how they represent and connect to all multi-faceted realms of mind/body/spirit. You will also journey into ways of balancing these chakras and vibrational energies through healing modalities, sound, color, crystals and love.
At noon in Room 1, Kelly Neylan will lead an exploration of Crystal Healing. Come out and learn about crystals, elixirs, and grids for help with common conditions, both physical and emotional. At the same hour in Room 2, Wendy Groomes will educate on Evolutionary Astrology. If something in your life just isn’t working and you find yourself repeating the same unhealthy patterns, Evolutionary astrology may offer valuable insight into the soul’s intention and let you learn a little more about yourself and others. No prior knowledge of astrology is required.
If you’ve ever experienced the death of a loved one or are currently supporting someone who is in the process, you may feel that there is no escape from the suffering and grief. If this describes you or your current situation, you are encouraged to come to Room 1 at 1 p.m. for Mindfulness and Grief. Lead by Heather Stang, MA, author, and Thanatologist, this 45 minute workshop explains the best approaches to mindfulness-based practices including meditation, yoga, and journaling and can help you consider healthier, clearer approaches and outlets in dealing with grief. At the same hour, in Room 2, you can discover Homeopathy: an Introduction. Join Silke Weiss and learn about alternate, homeopathic remedies and treatments for a number of health-related conditions. For those who are looking for solutions that do not require chemicals, unwanted symptoms or other added inconveniences, this workshop may be the thing for you.
The 2 p.m. hour will start out with Maintaining Health with Essential Oils. Paula Mastbrook will cover all the basics from what they are, how to use them, how to choose which ones work best for you, and how they help with healing to maintain overall health and wellness. You will even have the chance to sample different oils. In Room 2, Christina Murphy will lead Got Lyme? If you are experiencing fevers, chills, frequent exhaustion, or other similar ailments associated with Lyme’s Disease, here is your information source. Get educated and learn what can be done.
At 3 p.m., Jennifer Palmer, Traditional Naturopath will lead Spiritually Gifted Children in Room 1. Spiritually gifted children are sometimes misunderstood and labeled with mental and behavioral disorders. Many of these gifted children know how to heal with energy, communicate with spirits, and even possess profound knowledge of Universal truths. Learn more about how these extraordinary gifts present themselves in children. In Room 2, you will find ways to Reduce Stress with the Relaxation Response. Heather Stang, MA, author and Thanatologist will lead this workshop that explores the fight or flight response many people experience in the heat of a stressful situation. She will present the approach to the body’s natural method for eliciting the opposite response as well—the natural antidote for anxiety and stress—relaxation response. Learn how to harness relaxation through meditation and become familiar with medical research and brain science to support new methods for coping.
