Once again, the year is going by like a blur. Before you know it, Thanksgiving will be here to kick off the holiday season. However, let’s not forget about Halloween! Florida may not get very cool weather in October and no leaves will be changing color, but we do get Spooky Empire’s Ultimate Horror Weekend! The convention takes place in two weeks, October 24-26 at the Doubletree By Hilton at Universal Studios.
Over the years Spooky Empire’s Ultimate Horror Weekend has featured almost all the icons in the world of horror. Leatherface (Gunnar Hansen), Michael Myers (Nick Castle, Tyler Mane), Jason (Kane Hodder), Freddy Kruger (Robert Englund) and Pinhead (Doug Bradley) have all come to Orlando at one time or another. There has always been one piece of the puzzle missing, until now. Tobin Bell, as Jigsaw from the “Saw” franchise, will be making his very first appearance. Those who have attended the convention in the past know how long the autograph lines can get, so this year Spooky, is offering presale autographs and Tobin Bell is one of the guests participating in this new offer. Check out the Spooky Empire website for more details.
A number of other guests will also be making the Spooky Empire debuts in 2014. Tara Reid, best known from the “American Pie” movies and more recently in the “Sharknado 1 & 2” will be on hand all weekend. Dee Wallace whom everyone remembers as the mom from “E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial”, but now has several horror titles to her credit, is also coming. GRIMM stars David Giuntoli and Bitsie Tulloch will only be appearing on Sunday, Oct 26th, but they will be participating in the presale special.
“The Walking Dead” is set for its season 5 premiere tomorrow night. Many forget it was Spooky Empire that first featured cast members as guests. A slew of your favorites are going to be there during that weekend including Michael Rooker (Earl), Melissa McBride (Carol), Madison Lintz (Sophia), Laurie Holden (Andrea) and Chandler Riggs (Carl). Other favorites not names here will all be gathered together for this massive event.
What has now become tradition, the weekend will kick off with a Zombie Walk beginning at 4:00 PM. You can get there early to be made up and join in the fun. For the first time, starting at 3:00 there will be a Zombie Walk Costume Contest. Another new event planned by Spooky Empire is a free video arcade and pinball room that will feature the brand new “Walking Dead” pinball machine. There will be many great live acts to see both by the pool (the pool parties at the Doubletree have been better than any that used to take place at the Wyndham) and in the convention center. Some of these acts will include The Vaudevillains, The Living Deads, Eigh8t and Shadowcast. There shows of both “Repo: The Genetic Opera” and “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” Click HERE to see the full schedule of events.
