3 quick questions . . .
with Stephen Anthony Gregory
California-based guitarist and songwriter Stephen Anthony Gregory recently released a new solo CD, Me, Myself & I, which is an exceptional offering for its genre. Gregory, who has been working in the music industry since he was in his 20s, recently took time out to answer 3 quick questions.
Here are the 3 quick questions asked of Gregory:
1. You have a new CD out now but travel back through the mists of time with me for a moment. Tell us, can you recall your first paid professional gig and what was that like?
Gregory: Well, that gives us about 20 years of mist to travel through. It was the 90’s, I was 22 My band at the time was Damshame and we were getting to be pretty well known in the area. In fact, the local Warehouse records stores had our (cassette tapes) stocked on their shelves for sale.
It was during that time that we used to headline at the Roxy and the Whiskey as well as local Desert clubs like Del Sur Gardens (A pretty cool venue that was part Bar/Club and Pool hall with a indoor stage and part Event venue with a good sized outdoor stage.) Anyway they called and asked us to play their Summer Night Jam as the opening band for the Bullet Boys. The Bullet Boys being a well known band with some big hits, helped to draw a large and lively crowd. So it was a great night, we had a blast! Not to mention how we felt validated as a band when we received our share of the take from the door and bar.
2. It will soon be October and Halloween. So here we go. Like all successful rock stars, you’ve sold your soul to Satan (laughing) . . . You are given the chance to resurrect one dead singer-songwriter/guitarist for what could be your final album. Whom do you choose and why?
Gregory: Actually . . . that’s kind of a no-brainer. My first choice would be to resurrect the Legendary Ronnie James Dio. If an explanation is really needed, I’d have to say it’s because His music is transcendent and moves your soul. His tone, range and creative vision and writing skills provided his listeners with an escape into another time. I feel that with our combined love for music Paired with our mutual interest in the mystical and medieval worlds that we’d create a truly amazing album! The possibilities would be limitless.
3. What’s next for you?
Gregory: Well, I’m in session with my band “American Addict”. We’re currently in writing mode and getting together putting in long hours during the week. Also it seems that we may have finally found a kick ass singer that’s a good fit for us.
Also Something fun in the not too distant future: We’re gonna be rockin’ out at Paladino’s on September 5th with Along with Missing Persons’ Dale Bozzio and the Flux Capacitators who, will have their real Back To The Future car for Photo opps. You should come on down and check us out!
So there you have it, boys and girls, 3 quick answers from Stephen Anthony Gregory. Hopefully, you found these 3 quick questions entertaining and interesting.
