Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless have delivered their messages to the unbeaten American boxer clearly; they want to see Floyd Mayweather Jr. fighting Manny Pacquiao into the ring before his retirement. In their latest statement aired Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014 on ESPN, Skip and Smith explained why they really want to see Floyd fighting the Filipino ring icon in the near future.
For your information, Floyd is scheduled to retire next year, but according to some observers who are following his colorful boxing career, he should fight the PacMan before he hangs-up his gloves. In almost all of his interviews, Floyd denied that he is ducking the PacMan and insisted that Manny is just using him to resolve his tax case with the Philippine government.
Floyd received negative comments from boxing fans after delivering his statement, according to some observers, Floyd’s revelation is just an indication that Stephen A. Smith’s statement on his program which aired on ESPN three days ago is really true. They also added that he is avoiding Manny Pacquiao contrary to his claim that he is not.
Meanwhile, if the boxing fans are claiming that Floyd is running from the PacMan to make the fight happen, the PacMan himself who is set to meet Chris Algieri in Macau, China this coming Nov. 22, is very much eager to meet his rival, he wants to make it happen. That is why Skip Bayless salutes him, Skip said, Manny is doing the right thing, but he insisted that the former pound for pound king should continue to force the situation to make their dream fight happen. He also commented that Floyd Mayweather is really afraid of Manny.
Stephen Smith: “First of all, I appreciate the fact that we know that Manny Pacquiao watches the show. I appreciate the fact that he gonna guest on the show, and regardless of how much I teased him, I know that Manny Pacquiao is the future hall of famer. He’s one of the great boxers in history. He is a champion and I appreciate his warrior mentality.”
“I said what I said and I mean what I mean, Floyd Mayweather feel free to cuss me out anytime you want, I will not let up, Manny Pacquiao is the fight we want to see. Skip Bayless has called out Mayweather on many occasion I have said that a thousand times that Skip Bayless is wrong. I think if Floyd fights Miguel Cotto or Canelo Alvarez, you know; there is no problem with that whatsoever.”
“But even though Manny Pacquiao got knocked out too as the guy been taunting on fighthype.com pointed out in the end, there is no body clamoring to see Floyd fights Amir Khan. We want Manny Pacquiao and if you don’t fight Cotto and you don’t fight Alvarez and you still avoid Manny Pacquiao and you try to sell us Amir Khan, then I finally believe that you’re ducking him.”
Skip Bayless: “Allow me to say to my friend Manny Pacquiao, you can infiltrate this proceeding anytime you want to bring it Manny we love it, we love you, and we love what you’re doing. Taunt this man, dare this man to fight you because he continues to run from you. And I appreciate my friend’s Stephen A. Smith calling out his man Floyd but we don’t wanna see a Canelo fight anymore. I wanna see this fight.”
“Remember, if you do just want a payday that means you have to get in the ring with the other fighter and you have to risk your face and your brain and your pride and your record against said boxer. And I don’t think Manny is for one second afraid of Floyd Mayweather Jr. In the end, this is about the battle that would take place in the ring, Floyd is afraid of Manny, Manny is not afraid of Floyd that’s why I do believe that Manny will beat Floyd if and when they fight.”
