Play ball and leave the car at home! Sounder trains are operating for the Seattle Mariners game vs. the Washington Nationals on Sunday, August 31 at 1:10 PM. Trains from the south will leave Lakewood at 10:45AM and trains from the north will leave Everett at 11:15AM (with their usual stops in between). Return trains will leave King Street Station 35 minutes after the last out. Sounder trains will also be running for Mariners games on two additional Sunday games, September 14 and 28. A complete schedule of game day train service is available at Sound Transit.
This special Sounder service is in addition to the regular Link light rail service to and from Safeco Field. Link runs every 10 minures on Sundays and serves 13 stations in downtown Seattle, SODO, Beacon Hill, Rainier Valley, Tukwila and SeaTac. Link’s Stadium and International District stations are a short walk from Safeco Field. Many ST Express buses also drop off passengers near the stadium. Link and ST Express bus schedule are also available online.
And if you’re coming from further afield, plan to take Amtrak Cascades to the 2014 NFL Kickoff when the Seattle Seahawks take on the Green Bay Packers at CenturyLink Field on Sunday, September 4. A full day of events is planned, beginning at 2:30 PM with a free concert in the North Lot of CenturyLink Field featuring Soundgarden and Pharrell Williams. Game time is 5:30 PM.
Amtrak expects the trains to sell out, and reservations are required. Amtrak Cascades runs four round trips between Seattle and Portland and two round trips between Seattle and Vancouver, BC. Stops between Seattle and Portland include Vancouver (WA), Kelso/Longview, Centralia, Olympia/Lacey, Tacoma and Tukwila. Stops between Seattle and Vancouver BC include Edmonds, Everett, Stanwood, Mt.
