Always be right
A major obstacle to being happy is the need to always be right. Never letting anyone be more right than you is a sure fire way to never being satisfied. How do you feel when you are around someone that always has to be right?
Focusing on what you don’t want to happen
Focus on what you don’t want to happen and your self-fulfilling prophecy may come true. Rather than thinking about the negative, spend your time appreciating where you are and what you already have.
Letting your health rot
How much exercise do you allow yourself? Are you eating a lot of junk food and fried food? What about the vegetables and fruits? Use everything you have right now to take the next small, realistic steps forward to a healthier life. Don’t concentrate on the finish line. Enjoy each step, one at a time.
Ignoring who you are
Some people follow the money rather than pursuing their passion. Other talk themselves out of being who they are. If you had a friend who spoke to you in the same way that you sometimes speak to yourself, how long would you allow that person to be your friend?
Spending more than you earn
If you are waiting for material things or someone else to make you happy, you’re on the wrong trap. Choose happiness. Be the change you want to see in the world. Be happy with who you are now, and let your positivity inspire your journey into tomorrow. Happiness is often found when and where you decide to seek it.
Depending on the paycheck
Yes, during the hard economic times it is hard to keep up. But there are some things you can do to get out of the hole. Enjoy free or inexpensive pleasures. Downsize. Get rid of the amenities that are not necessary. Be creative. Read. Listen to music. Have a purpose, other than cable TV.
Holding on to anger.
Are you wasting your time and life by spending it regretting the past and feeling sorry for yourself? Are you holding on to anger or never forgiving anyone? You CAN chose to start a new chapter, a better one.
Don’t let anyone help you
Are you suffering in sadness, depression, or worry alone? There is a whole world out there full of opportunities to help you. Churches, counselors, good people, government agencies. Take the step. You would help others if you could. That is what we are here for. Ask for help.
A sure road to living a wasteful life void of happiness is to never take responsibility for your own actions. Are you really happy blaming everyone around you? We all make mistakes. Man up and move forward.
Trying to control everything
Trying to control everything and then worry about the things you can’t control will never, never, never work, unless you are trying to live an unhappy life. Relax. Start noticing what you like about others and tell them. Care about people. “Perfect” is the enemy of “good.”
