Clevelanders looking for a family-friendly and fun day trip and who love to shop until they drop should check out the 48th annual Ohio Mart being held at historic Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens in Akron on Thursday, October 2 through Sunday, October 5. It is approximately a 45 minute drive from Cleveland.
Ohio Mart Taking place among the historic landscaped gardens and the grounds of Stan Hywet Hall amidst the scenery of vibrant autumn colors, Ohio Mart offers a wide variety of sights, sounds and activities that are sure to delight the whole family. More than 15,000 people are expected to attend.
Ohio Mart will feature over 120 artisans and craftspeople offering a wide range of items for sale including sculptures, handcrafted furniture, jewelry, ceramics, textiles, garden art, photography and holiday items.
Also be sure to check out Vintage Finds and Curious Goods offering gently used antiques, textiles and decorative vintage items for sale.
For the kids there will be several activities offered in the Children’s Tent along with a Homes of Nature exhibit (promising action packed fun) and new this year, a Playgarden.
Manor House self-guided tours will also be available for visitors for a fee of $6 for adults and $3 for youth. While on the tour of the Manor House, don’t miss the autumn edition of Inspiration in Bloom, a showcase of fresh floral displays by area designers and florists who craft unique floral pieces that are inspired by rooms in the Manor House.
Ohio Mart will also feature live entertainment.
Dining options include several choices at the Food Court offering lunchtime fare. However, the big draw at each year’s Ohio Mart is their famous “secret recipe” gingerbread cookies (sold in the Gingerbread Tent). Visitors can also purchase cookies and pastries from local area bakeries at the Bakery Tent.
The Tudor Rose Pub, a sports bar, will be featuring wine, beer and a big screen TV.
Other shopping opportunities at Ohio Mart include items at the Book Tent (gently used books), The Garden and Craft Shops (handcrafted floral arrangements from the Stan Hywet gardens and handcrafted gifts) and Molly’s Gift Shop (showcasing Christmas, 2014 decor and gifts).
Hours for the Ohio Mart are 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday and 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $9 for adults and $2 for youth. There is an additional charge for the self-guided tours of the Manor House. On-site parking is $5 per vehicle.
