He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the Earth upon nothing: Job 26:7
Claims of the Bible not being accurate or a collection of fables are made impotent by the realities declared in hundreds of Bible verses. Just one compelling category that demonstrates foreknowledge to facts is documented in the astronomical realties revealed before their discovery by astronomers or scientists.
The ongoing expansion of our universe, the vast void of space over the northern direction of our galaxy, and the accurate declaration that the Earth is suspended in space by nothing is one of the more dynamic truths disclosed in one Bible verse of Job 26:7. That is three principles disclosed before the discovery was made.
Back in Genesis the Bible stipulates an astute ability to correctly describe the vast number of billions and billions of stars even though on a clear night during the contemporary writing of Genesis one could only see 3,000 stars at best of a clear night.
“That in blessing, I will bless thee, and in multiplying, I will multiply thy seed as the starts of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies”: Genesis 22:17
God’s covenant to Abraham articulated billions and billions of descendants while using the measuring stick of stars in the sky and grains of sand by the sea shore. Only divine foreknowledge was possible when all one can see at best is 3,000 stars in the sky. The accuracy of God’s declaration to Abraham would only be authenticated thousands of years later. Lucky guess?
The prophet Jeremiah waded into the expanding vastness of our universe thousands of years before discovery and also made a challenge to the technology today that attempts to measure the known universe:
“Thus saith the Lord; if heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the Earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, said the Lord”.—Jeremiah 31:37.
God challenges our ability to measure our universe today by hanging a stipulation to astronomers and scientists with a binding declaration of “if heaven above can be measured”, then I will forget about Israel and the Jews. The latest is we can perhaps see 10 billion light years into the deepest part of the universe, and still we cannot see the end of the universe due to the vastness of space. If we are able to measure the cosmos to the end, God will have to forget about Israel and the Jews.
Jeremiah 31:37 is a boast that shows God has a sense of humor also.
The detractors bumble, stumble, and fumble about these divine truths being established well before mankind was able to figure them out. There are feeble attempts to discredit what the Bible declares and typically these scoffers will extract inconsequential Bible verses that are wrongly interpreted to fit their agenda. Not one correctly interpreted Bible verse has ever been disputed by astronomy or science for its accuracy.
While people were dribbling about the Earth being flat all the way to the time of Christopher Columbus in 1492, the Bible never subscribed to a flat Earth by the revelation of this truth in Isaiah 40:21-22:
“Have ye not known? Have ye not heard? Hath it not been told you from the beginning? Have ye not understood from the foundations of the Earth? It is He that sitteth upon the circle of the Earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in.”
Not only is the Earth not flat based on Isaiah 40:21-22, but the prophet Isaiah declares the expanding universe once again just as Job declared hundreds of years prior without consulting with Job. This divine truth was given to Isaiah to substantiate “out of the mouth of two or more witnesses, let every word be established” standard.
There is quite a bit more truth revealed in the scriptures that validates astronomical facts, however God is in the faith business and is more interested in belief and trust than taking a science quiz that “proves” His word. One does not require evidence should one have faith.https://answersingenesis.org/answers/books/taking-back-astronomy/the-bible-and-modern-astronomy-part-2/
Bits of facts primarily should reinforce one’s faith and not the other way around.
