Racing tipsters and punters may see The Cheka competing in the Group 1 Prix Maurice de Gheest after finishing second behind Tiddliwinks in the Duke of York Stakes. The six-year-old, rated by Timeform at 119, struggled in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes and could have a chance to make another strong finish in the six and a half furlong horse race at Prix Maurice de Gheest.
In other news, Rebel Fitz will likely be among the runners in the Grimes Hurdle at Tipperary prior to competing at the Galway Hurdle early next month. Notably, the Michael Winters-trained jump horse placed second in a Grade 2 novices’ hurdle at Navan last November.
The seven-year-old stayed within a length and a half of Mount Benbulben in that meeting. Rebel Fitz also placed fourth in the Punchestown Novices’ Champion Hurdle.
Additionally, Carlton House is set to contend in the Summer Mile at Ascot on Saturday. Trainer Sir Michael Stoute will have the Queen’s colt run in the Group 2 at Berkshire track. Carlton House is a four-year-old and the son of Street Cry with a Timeform master rating of 125. He placed at an impressive second to So You Think in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at the Royal meeting.
