The Oakland Raiders suffered their fourth loss to the Miami Dolphins in London on Sunday afternoon with a score of 38-14. The Raiders had hope to be a better team than last year as a lot of veteran signings occurred during the offseason and some smart picks were made for the 2014 NFL Draft. However, so far, the Silver and Black seem to be anything but better than they were the year before.
There was more bad in the game against the Dolphins than there was any good. However, being positive is one of the things that makes good things happen. It is a start when one is positive. As for the Raiders, a lot needs to happen, but they must remain positive and look at the good things that happened in game that came with a terrible loss.
The bad will go first since it was a lot easier to spot for the Oakland Raiders in the loss to the Miami Dolphins. The coaching staff were too conservative and played with not risks, even after being down twenty-something points, the coaching staff did not seem to go for it. There was no long bombs or trick play from the back, nothing!
Just kept running the ball when it was predictable and kept throwing short passes the whole game. The Raiders were basically predictable the whole game and the coaches did not seem to do any changes. The longest reception was by James Jones for 30 yards.
In reality, a lot had to do with the players, but the coaching staff did not seem to make any ballsy calls that needed to be done. The staff had not solution for anything on Sunday against the Dolphins. After the half, there was not improvement on the defense or offense, really. At least, that is what it seemed what happened on Sunday.
Additionally, the receivers need to open up or work harder. Derek Carr has it really tough as a rookie working with receivers that are just not getting open. Once they do, the drop the ball or coverage is super tight. Reminder, there were three pics that just destroyed the Raiders for Sunday’s game.
The were many more bad things that occurred for the Raiders that were obviously not mention in this short piece. Most of the units of the team did not play well, but that is going to be put to the side for goodness sake. Also, Derek Carr getting injured. Again, putting this to the side for now like many other problems the team has.
Despite being picked twice, Matt McGloin saved some face, just a bit for the Raiders, when he got another touchdown with wide receiver Andre Holmes. It was the second touchdown of the day. The first touchdown was with Derek Carr with tight end Brian Leonhardt. Good start for the Raiders, but that momentum did not last!
Matt McGloin also got 129 yards in just being on the field for a quarter and a half. Not bad! However, he did get picked twice and messed up the very first hike, when he went into the game for injured Derek Carr, that led to a Miami touchdown. On a good note, McGloin made a spectacular tackle on one of his own interceptions. Anyone see that? Anyway…
The other good thing for the Raiders is the fact that they get a bye week. Hopefully, things will get fixed in the locker room and on the field. Rumor has it that the coach will be fired. Who knows? Whatever the solution to fix this tremendous problem or problems, must be done during the two weeks before coming back onto the field.
The loss against the Miami Dolphins was devastating. On the other hand, the Oakland Raiders, including the die-hard fans, must be patient. As for the team, risks must be taken! Perhaps get a new coach and staff. Why not? There is nothing to lose now. Come up with a new plan, anything! Just get some wins this season. That should be the new goal!
