Erika Garces has been a leading actress in the film industry for the past 5 years. She started when she was only 17 and one of her first leading roles was playing Anna for the film Turning Point, by Haudsen. This film was shot in London, England in 2009 and it portrays a young beautiful girl that has a dream of becoming a singer facing health issues with her vocal cords since a very young age. The turning point happens for her when she gets the go ahead from her parents to undergo a very risky surgery.
This could have gone 60% wrong, since it was very delicate but she encourages her parents, that all is well. Erika played this character, with an outstanding monologue fighting for her dream, leaving a message to the audience that no matter what obstacles are in front of you, you should always continue to fight for your dreams. Little girls in the UK, in particular, loved this character and were inspired by Erika’s beautiful performance .
Erika then featured in an important role in Argentina in a film directed by Cejas. This film titled Eterna Primavera (Eternal Spring) was about a girl that suffered from domestic violence from her father when she was growing up as a teenager but had to keep her silence as she was constantly being threatened for the worse. When Estefania, reaches her mid 20’s she decides to find her inner strength to go out and search for her mom who left her years back. She wanted to find at least part of her family that could give her the kind of parental love and support that she never had. She believed family was the most important thing in someone’s life.
This was evident every spring (as the film is titled), when Estefania would go out to parks and do her college homework as those were the memories she had with her mom, every spring, going to the park. She did this for years to come, until she found her mother on the streets and finds out she had sent someone to murder her father and make him pay for all he did to both of them. Estefania however, disagreed with this, as she didn’t want revenge and wanted to move on with life.
Erika played this role brilliantly. She is in particularly very talented when playing emotional scenes, and really connects to her audiences with whatever the theme of the film is. Erika also did an amazing job in First Sight directed by Sebastian Cardemil two years later, while still in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Then followed her most extraordinary performance in the theater play, Venecia for which she received incredible recognition for portraying the lead role so closely to perfection that the playwright himself, Award Winner Jorge Accame congratulated her personally.
We cannot wait to see what passion and talent Erika brings to the table next!
