“The Price is Right” continues its search for its next male model. 30 finalists, handpicked from thousands of hopefuls, will compete for the week long December appearance on the show. The search is the subject of a web series called “The Price Is Right Male Model Search.” The webisodes will stream on Mondays beginning October 27 on www.priceisright.com. The judging panel includes “The Price Is Right” executive producer Mike Richards, former Miss USA Shanna Moakler and the show’s models Manuela Arbelaez, Amber Lancaster, Rachael Reynolds and Gwendolyn Osborne-Smith. Rob Wilson, the show’s first male model, was on hand as part of the judging panel as well.
During the webisodes, the finalist meets with the judges who are searching for personality beyond looks. Wilson appears in Webisode 2 which debuts on Monday, November 3. In the webisode, the model turned actor gives the finalists one-on-one advice as they meet with the judging panel. “I saw a little bit of myself in all of these guys,” Wilson told Daytime TV Examiner during an interview on the set of his current gig on “Days of our Lives.” “If someone were to ask me a couple of years ago if I would be riding jet skis and showing dishwashers on “The Price Is Right” as a gig between my acting jobs, I would have never thought that in a million years. It’s a really nerve racking experience the first time with these guys. Everyone just got finished doing a hundred pushups. They were s little nervous and I told them to smile and let yourselves be free. I always look for people who are just having fun it and don’t take themselves too seriously. Just enjoy the experience because it’s such a great opportunity. It was a great experience and I’m excited for somebody else to enjoy it as well.”
“The Price Is Right’s” relationship with daytime dramas is well known. Many stars of “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful” have appeared on the show as guest models. The finalists will learn the game show’s relationship to daytime dramas first-hand when they are faced with a challenge involving soap operas.
In the final webisode, on Monday, November 24 – Webisode 5, called, “Soap Scene Challenge,” the five remaining hopefuls will cold read a soap scene with some of CBS Daytime’s biggest stars. Two contestants are eliminated and then it’s America’s turn to decide the winner.
Judging panel for the webisode will be Mike Richards, Shanna Moakler and two of CBS Daytime’s biggest soap stars.
On Monday, December 1, the three finalists will appear on “The Talk.” Viewers will then be able to vote on line for who should be named “The Price Is Right” male model search. The winner will be announced on the show Monday, December 8 and will begin their week-long modeling gig on Monday, December 15.
