According to a June 9 report from Cageside Seats, The Shield added a new member during the WWE Monday Night Raw episode filmed in Minneapolis, just one week after Seth Rollins turned on his teammates. Last week on “Raw,” Rollins broke up The Shield as WWE Universe knew it by smashing Roman Reigns in the back with a steel chair. Rollins’ heel turn also included him aligning himself with Evolution, the tag-team supergroup of Randy Orton and Triple H.
There was some speculation that the remaining members of The Shield, Reigns and Dean Ambrose, could go on as a two-man tag-team. However, it wasn’t meant to be. Triple H and WWE head honcho Stephanie McMahon opened WWE Monday Night Raw in Minneapolis by walking out to the ring, to announce that Ambrose and Reigns would be going up against Bray Wyatt and the Wyatt family.
If Ambrose and Reigns didn’t add a new member to their group, it would have been a handicap match of two against three. Since The Shield didn’t like facing all three members of The Wyatt Family, they put the match back in their favor by adding a new group member. Elsewhere on WWE Monday Night Raw, McMahon stripped Daniel Bryan of his WWE Heavyweight Championship belt because he will be sidelined for longer than expected due to neck surgery.
Bryan is confirmed to be out of next month’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view spectacular, so his belt was taken away. McMahon announced that the WWE Heavyweight Championship title will be on the line in the Money in the Bank headliner, which will be a ladder match. In other action, Sheamus defeated Bad News Barrett to qualify for a spot in the Money in the Bank ladder match.
Sheamus joined Randy Orton and Alberto Del Rio in the Money in the Bank ladder match for the WWE Heavyweight Championship title. Four spots remain, and most of them will be determined in the “Raw” and “Smackdown” shows in the weeks ahead. In other action, Bray Wyatt appeared to have ended his feud with John Cena, and reignited a past feud with The Shield.
Wyatt told WWE Universe that he is reborn, which would indicate that he’s over his feud with Cena. Its not clear at present time if the new Shield vs. Wyatt Family feud will continue into next month’s Money in the Bank, or if its a one-night only confrontation while Cena recovers from an eye injury that he suffered over the weekend. WWE Monday Night Raw aired at 8 p.m. on the USA Network.
