Marvel Studios’ long-awaited “Guardians of the Galaxy”, which brings a new group of superheroes to life, finally hits theaters this Friday, as does the James Brown biopic “Get On Up”. Read more about those films below, and leave a comment at the bottom letting us know what you’ll be watching.
“Guardians of the Galaxy”: Directed by James Gunn, this action flick based on the Marvel comic book franchise follows a group of misfits called the Guardians of the Galaxy: Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Groot (Vin Diesel), Rocket Bradley Cooper), Drax (Dave Bautista), and Star Lord, aka Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), who is the subject of a manhunt led by a fierce villain after stealing a mysterious orb. Available for viewing in 3D. Runtime: 121 minutes. Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi action and violence, and for some language.
“Get On Up”: This biographical drama directed by Tate Taylor follows the life and career of singer James Brown (Chadwick Boseman), who went from poverty to superstardom. Costarring Viola Davis, Dan Aykroyd, and Octavia Spencer. Runtime: 138 minutes. Rated PG-13 for sexual content, drug use, some strong language, and violent situations.
