The Walt Disney Family Museum at the San Francisco Presidio hosts parties after hours featuring different worlds at Disneyland and this Friday means it’s Tiki Time, with a hukilau done San Francisco style complete with exotic burlesque, gold lame and fringe Go-Go dancers, a goofy ukulele comic musician, Barbados rum and tantalizing frozen custards from a young San Francisco foursome with a food truck. Party guests have the run of the place, so if you have ever been to Disneyland or seen a Disney film and wondered how it’s done, this is the place for you.
The museum will also unveil Pepe del Presidio, a replica of the animated parrot that invites visitors at Disneyland into the Tiki Tiki Tiki room. Visitors will see a new film and get to take the joy stick to experience animated characters personally.
It’s phenomenal fun inside and out. Outside, the spectacular location in a classic red brick building with a porch opening on the vast green parade lawn. Inside, the museum gives partiers the run of the place which offers more than one can take in during one visit according to veteran opera actor Kimberly Thompson, who has attended her share. She emails:
At the party they had wonderful cocktails and bites and you get the run of the museum to enjoy. Way too much info for one visit! They had a photo booth where they had Disney props to put on and get a photo. I also remember at the party there was a scavenger hunt to win a drink coupon.
The San Francisco Presidio is bikeable and walkable.
