Sometimes parents can’t afford to send their children to preschool. It is important that your child learns basics such as their letters, numbers, colors, and even to be social. You can do preschool at home with your child to help them prepare for pre-K and Kindergarten. Use these simple ideas to help your children learn at home.
One of the basics to learning the ABC’s is learning to sing the song. Teach your child just be simply singing the song with them. You can also get flashcards at your local Dollar store to teach them. Make up a basket of various items that all start with A and so on. Use apples, bananas, cookies, and other things inside your home. Starfall is a great website that you can share with your children. It has a lot of great learning tools for your letters.
Teach your children how to count. You can lay out several items of the same thing and count all of them. Show them how to count on their fingers. Don’t forget flash cards for numbers as well.
Make your own sensory table at home. If you don’t want to spend a lot of money, you can make a sensory tote. Just take a clear tote that you can put the lid on and change out what is in it every so often. You can put sand, bubbles, Easter grass, and so much more.
Take extra time to explore certain areas such as bubbles. Children love bubbles and there is nothing better than the joy on their face as they chase after them.
Let your child color, paint, and just get dirty. You can do a simple search online to find various arts and crafts. Use your imagination. You can paint with pudding. Let them taste it as well. There are so many different options if you are just open to new ideas.
You will still want to let your child have the social part of preschool. One great way to do this is by setting up play dates with friends. Take turns hosting them. Meet up with them at the park and let the kids play together. If you don’t have friends with small children, look for organizations in your area that set up play dates or try to meet other mom’s at the park.
