This is a “rewind” back to season two, episode two called, “A monster among us” (01/24/2014). This is a cable TV show & due to the nature of the subject matter. Viewer discretion is advised. We follow a former prosecutor named Kelly Siegler & real crime scene investigator (CSI) Yolanda McClary, as they open a cold homicide case.
“A monster among us” opened with Kelly & Yolanda heading to Camp Hill, Alabama. It has a population of 900 people. On Feb. 21, 2005 a woman named Willie Louise Kellum was found strangled to death in her own home. The police kept a lot of physical evidence in this murder case & because the town is so small. They didn’t have enough money to pay for DNA analysis.
Kelly & Yolanda bring in a seasoned homicide detective named, D.D. Shirley from Houston, Texas. As they sit down to discuss the case, everyone knew & loved Willie who was 78 years old. Everyone called her “Miss Louise.” She was raped after she was strangled to death. Douglas Freeman who is Willie’s grandson is suspect number one. He lived with her & has a history of violence against his own mother.
Eric Freeman is the second suspect who just got out of prison. He had an alibi that he was at work. Markis Heard is the third suspect who was known to have molested his own daughter. He has an alibi, but there was a phone call from Willie’s home to the Todd’s house during the murder. He was dating the daughter in the Todd house.
Kelly & Yolanda interview two of Willie’s daughters. They believe Douglas might have had something to do with it. All the detectives go to the home/crime scene that has now been abandoned. They recreate what happened that night on Feb. 21. They wait for the DNA results & interview all other witnesses.
Did Willie’s own grandson kill her? Was Willie murdered in the afternoon or at night? Do all three suspects have air tight alibi’s? You can watch “A monster among us” over at TNT.
