My list of favorite travel quotes changes constantly but some standbys never fail to inspire. Whether poetic, thought-provoking or humorous, each one helps me keep an open mind and adventurous spirit, guiding the way wherever my travels take me.
In no particular order:
1.) “Don’t tell me how educated you are, tell me how much you traveled.” Mohammed.
2.) “Ever since childhood, when I lived within earshot of the Boston and Maine, I have seldom heard a train go by and not wished I was on It.” Paul Theroux.
3.) “Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but you want someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down.” Oprah Winfrey
4.) “I believe the world is incomprehensibly beautiful-an endless prospect of magic and wonder.” Albert Einstein
5.) “A week ago it was the mountains I thought the most wonderful, and today it’s the plains. I guess it’s the feeling of bigness in both that carries you away.” Georgia O’Keeffe
6.) “You go away for a long time and return a different person – you never come all the way back.” Paul Therous
7.) “Follow your dreams. They know the way.” Yobi Kamada
8.) “Some experiences simply do not translate, you have to go to know.” Yobi Kamada
9.) “When you come to a fork in the road, take it. You can observe a lot by watching.”
Both by Yogi Berra
10) “Sometimes you just have to take the leap and build your wings on the way down.” Yobi Kamada
And one more for the road: “The towels were so thick there I could hardly close my suitcase.” Yogi Berra
Whether mapping out a new adventure or reminiscing about the last, no words can fully take us back but some can move us forward. As author Jack Kerouac wrote, “All of life is a foreign country.”
Wherever your travels take you, remember to keep the passport to your heart open.
