Let me get this straight. We are bombing the crap out of ISIS in Syria (fighters embedded with civilians) so that another group in Syria will stop fighting Assad long enough to turn and fight ISIS, and this group we’ve funded with $500M is suspected of atrocities against Syrian Christians, a group that needs a year of training, and we are going to go in there to train them?
Is anyone else thinking this is insane?
We have no coalition of any substance.
Obama does not have congressional Authorization to Use Force. (Is he using the Magna Carta?)
There is little or no chance the Free Syrian Army will free anybody. ($500m down the drain.)
No U.N. Resolutions.
No boots on the ground of any kind to help target, sayeth the commander.
Intelligence is being provided by Israel almost exclusively.
Other than all that, Obama is just like Bush, except preemption saved time, money and lives.
Obama has now bombed more countries that Bush. Very progressive. It remains to be seen what Iran and Russia will do.
Nobel Peace Prize indeed.
What happens when Syrian civilians are slaughtered? If this fails, is Jordan next, then Israel? BTW, where are the Saudis. We’ve saved them more than once. Isn’t it about time they stepped up?
What is being done about the hundreds of thousands of new refugees, joining about 2 million already living in tents?
Will the Sunnis join the fight on the ground? Not likely. The Iraqi Army? Already a washout thanks to our early pullout commanded by you know who, a pullout that created this mess in the first place.
With ISIS already embedded in the civilian population in Syria, who will go in to root them out, and won’t that require American boots and a declaration of war? How many American lives will be lost thanks to Obama’s folly?
How many Democrat leaders are cheering this unilateral, illegal action?
Does this give Putin justification in Ukraine, and provide ISIS with propaganda power? Talk about providing encouragement to jihad, helping ISIS with the recruiting effort, or was that just Bush doing that?
Chatter on the Hill indicates Obama is seriously negotiating nuclear concessions in return for Iranian assistance. Now there’s a brilliant idea.
Is this a war for oil, a counter terrorism operation, a human caused disaster requiring overseas contingency engagements, a police action, or a humanitarian mission? And by the way, what is the end game?
The outstanding question: what will Obama do when his ‘plan’ utterly fails?
