SEMINOLE – Tampa Bay rock band, Undercover Betty, will be holding a CD release party for their debut 3-song EP this Saturday at Screwie Louie’s Historic Porpoise Pub in Seminole. Aside from Undercover Betty, the event will also feature a special guest performance from area metal band, Decepcion.
Undercover Betty was originally formed in January of 2012 by Rebecca Field (lead vocals/guitar) and Connie Bonds (bass/vocals). Following the early departure of their original drummer, Kana Leimbech was added to complete the trio. After performing as a 3-piece for nearly 3 years, the band recently announced the addition of Carol “Corky” Sarao on keyboards.
“We waited three years to add to our family and waited for just the right fit, and Carol is the one..We are so proud to have her in the band..And look forward to a very long musical friendship.” – Rebecca Field
Since their initial formation, the band has gone on to prove themselves as being one of the hardest working bands in the area, playing everywhere there is to play, while building an ever growing fan base along the way. However, 2014 has proven to be the definitive year so far for Undercover Betty as the band continues to gain momentum, popularity, and continued coverage in both local and National media. So far this year the band has been featured in The Examiner, Full Access Magazine, and Ion Indie Magazine, just to name a few. The band has also received air-play on WPRN 102.1 fm, Social Network Radio, Digital Revolution Radio, Sunset Island Music, and many more.
Earlier this year, Undercover Betty became finalists in the Tampa Bay regionals of the Hard Rock Cafe’s 2014 Hard Rock Rising Global Battle of the Bands competition. During the initial voting process of the competition, the band ranked #1 in the Tampa Bay region, receiving the most votes out of all 132 Tampa Bay bands that were entered in the competition. In addition, out of the 8,372 bands that were entered in the competition globally, only four other bands in the world had received more votes then Undercover Betty.
When veteran 80’s hard rock band Vixen came to the Tampa Bay area in April for a stop at the Largo Cultural Center, it was Undercover Betty who was chosen to be their opening act for the show. Around the same time, Undercover Betty received an endorsement deal with Coldcock Whiskey as well.
Undercover Betty’s debut 3-song EP was recorded at Red Room Recorders in Ybor City and co-produced by Mark Prator and John Wesley. The CD is being released on the independent label, Shark Alley Records. The cover art for the EP was done by photographer Ron Maio.
Following Saturday’s release of their debut EP, Undercover Betty plans on returning to the studio before the end of the year to work on their debut full-length CD which they hope to release after the new year.
Opening for Undercover Betty on Saturday will be Tampa Bay metal band, Decepcion. Originally formed in late 2004/early 2005 as a 4-piece metal band, Decepcion has recently reunited following their 2011 breakup. The current 3-piece version of the band consists of Lance Doran (guitar), Dave C. Sampson (lead vocals & bass), and Jeremy Strait (drums).
Saturdays show will start at 9:00pm, admission is free. Screwie Louie’s Porpoise Pub is located in Seminole at 8701 Seminole Blvd.
