Police have identified the man who was shot to death during a home invasion in Duluth. But they said they are no closer to identifying the two suspects who committed the crime.
Adam Schrier, 37, died from a gunshot wound after struggling with the suspects, Duluth police said Thursday. A woman and an 8-year-old girl were also wounded by gunfire, police said.
The incident happened sometime before 6:20 a.m. inside the home at 2926 Summercrest Lane near Rogers Bridge Road and Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, police said. Investigators said two men forced their way into the home with the intention of robbing the residents.
“During the robbery attempt, a struggle ensued between Mr. Schrier and the suspects,” police spokesman Maj. Don Woodruff said. “At some point during the struggle all three victims were shot.”
The woman called 911 to report the home invasion and officers arrived to find the 8-year-old girl and the woman, each suffering from at least one gunshot wound, Woodruff said. He did not say where in the home each victim was found.
The child was transported to the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite and the woman was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center, Woodruff said. Both have been treated and released. A second child, a 4-year-old girl, was not injured, Woodruff said.
Both children have been placed in the custody of the Gwinnett County Division of Family and Children Services, Woodruff said Thursday.
The suspects were gone by the time officers arrived. It’s unclear if anything was taken from the home and if the family was targeted.
