The new FOX reality show “Utopia” put up live stream feeds before the official television air date and there has been plenty of drama already. The first big piece of news is that one “Utopian” did not even make it through the gates.
“Utopia” executive producer Jon Kroll tweeted on Aug. 29 that one of the pioneers had violated on of the production rules and was not permitted to enter the “Utopia” compound. The pioneer, Andrea Cox, was dismissed for attempting to contact other pioneers while they were in sequester.
The concept of “Utopia” comes from the Dutch show “Utopia” which is why many are calling the show “Utopia USA.” The show was supposed to begin with 15 “Utopians” entering the compound, but after Cox’s dismissal, only 14 pioneers began the year.
The “Utopia” USA social experiment will last for one year and Day One began on August 29 when the feeds went live. Anyone can watch the censored cameras one and two, which is called the basic passport, free of charge. A premium “Utopia” passport, which includes four uncensored cameras, as well as a 360 degree camera, can be purchased for $4.99 per month on the “Utopia” website.
Pioneers will be moving in and out of “Utopia” over the entire long stay. Fans will be given the opportunity to vote on which people they want to move into the compound. They may also get a say in which pioneers are voted out of “Utopia.” Auditions are still being conducted. If interested you can apply on the “Utopia” website.
