It’s bad enough, the game is rigged. The “real money” never changes hands. For that reason, the holders of that wealth are like immortals, vampires they transcend the barriers that hold the rest of us back and withhold institutional memory and corporate knowledge from us, to boot. They teach us Shakespeare and geometry instead.
That memory and knowledge enables one-percenters to hold on to both wealth and power. Meanwhile for the rest of us, the 99 percent, lacking the insider’s information languish in poverty that resembles the events in the movie, “Groundhog Day.” We are trapped in an endless loop, generation after generation.
Enabling those gatekeepers is our insane and manipulable tug-of-war system of governance created just right for exploitation, control and maintaining the “status quo.” My entire life I’ve never been represented in our system of governance and as things are today, never will be.
“We the people” have been slipping into oblivion for the past four decades. Granted Antonin Scalia’s election of “w” to the oval office put the process in over-drive. Still the one-percent have only just begun their vicious campaign to rape, pillage and plunder what little is left of the US middle class. The one-percent makes ISIS look tame, house broken and humanitarian.
Tiny, incremental steps to change the status quo are an illusion, a myth and almost pointless. All that is accomplished by “tiny, incremental steps” is to give advance warning to the one-percent of the next move that they (the one-percent) can intercept and neutralize. That cancels out the progress, if any, that tiny, incremental steps accomplish.
Read some history. There is no such thing as a “bloodless revolution.” All of the real advances made in history have resulted from real “revolution.” The one-percent, the wealth do not share. It must be wrested from them. By simple definition that is going to involve more than intellectual process.
If “mericans” truly want what they need then the answer does exist. It is however, most unlikely to be seriously discussed, much less implemented.
So you think this “land is your land?” You really believe the public relations myth about “democracy?”
If you answered yes, to those questions then you may be too far gone for what I’m about to tell you for it to matter. You might as well go do something else. It’s likely to be less unsettling, less intellectually taxing.
Let’s begin with the Electoral College. It is a machination of control. It does not—let me repeat—does not reflect the “will of the people.” It is a means of control meant to insure the “status quo.” From day one, there has been no trust between the one-percent and “we the people.” All “we the people” represent to the one-percent is Orc breeders, manufacturers of future consumers and cannon fodder; in a word, profit.
So if you really want what you say you need, “democracy” then step one is to ditch the Electoral College. I’ve provided links for you to follow and educate yourself on the Electoral College process. Lots of books have been written on the topic.
Implement proportional representation, ditch our ridiculous tug-of-war two right-of-center-political parties and see what “democracy” really is.
Begin public funding of elections, push back against the one-percent control freaks who don’t give one good goddam about you, the nation or anything else except their insatiable need for profit at any cost. Or do as so many have done for generations and go blindly on your way to the polls in what, just over 30 days?
Do so and consign generations of offspring to lives as Orcs just all past generations have (in the nation and most others as well) for more almost a quarter of a millennia. Exceptionalism? I think not.
From Texas Red: a cratered landscape of for profit prisons, a deplorable apartheid public education system, lack of healthcare and politicians and majority voting population intent on keeping it that way…
