U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s, (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations, (HSI), Buffalo announced the seizure of three China-based websites selling illegal narcotics a few months back.
The names of those seized sites were, kerrypharm.com, kaseeypharm.com, and kx-researchchem.com. The seizures were the result of an investigation with many undercover buys being made from those websites. There were several arrests made of people across the U.S. who bought the illegal drugs for re-sale on the streets. The webpages had synthetic narcotics including those on the Schedule I and III controlled substances, and analogues list. One of the more powerful narcotics was Fentanyl, used in surgery, cancer patients, and those suffering with intractable pain. A couple other substances were Bath Salts, and Methylone.
The seizures follow an investigation and several undercover buys from the websites. HSI special agents have also arrested numerous individuals throughout the United States who were purchasing the illegal substances in order to re-sell the drugs on the streets. The websites listed over 20 different synthetic narcotics available for sale, including schedule I and III controlled substances and analogues. Some of the drugs purchased included Fentanyl, Bath Salts, and Methylone.
The seizure of those websites by HSI in the belief that it will stem the flow of drugs to communities, as well as have a positive impact on putting the dealers out of business, is a pipe dream at best. Shut down 3 websites that sell the drugs, and 4 more pop up. Moreover, those websites that were shut down could easily start up another one to continue their on with business.
Special Agent James Spero who is in charge of HSI out of Buffalo, NY stated, “We will continue to aggressively target and dismantle these operations that pump poison onto our streets,” reported ICE.
Sounds good, but the War on Drugs has been a failure, and the resources continuing to be used in that war would be far better spent on drug abuse education, and treatment.
Another synthetic psychoactive substance causing concern is MT-45. MT-45 is an opioid analgesic drug invented in the 1970s by Dainippon Pharmaceutical Co. It has approximately 80% of the potency of morphine.
A man and woman were found dead in a Hamburg, NY residence in August of 2013. Autopsy toxicology reports confirmed both died of acute MT-45 intoxication. The authorities believe the substance came from China.
A quick check on the Internet pulled up some sites selling MT-45 as well as a long list of chemicals that people are buying to get high on. I found 3 sites, lsresearchchems.com, ninjachemicals.com, and caymanchem.com.
Once these drugs are identified by officials, and then made illegal, banned, etc., bathtub chemists, and even real ones come up with analogues of the banned drugs which are then legal to sell, all the while putting those that abuse these substances in danger of severe health problems, and even death.
Pre-teens, and teens these days seem more prone to experiment with drugs that are basically research chemicals not having a clue about what they may do to them. It is unfortunate, but attacking the problem from a law enforcement perspective is not working, nor has it ever worked. Nothing is going to stop dealers from selling drugs. As many as are busted, and locked up, several are standing in line to take their places. The emphasis must be on getting at these kids as soon as they pop out of the womb if necessary, and pound drug abuse education into their heads until they graduate from school.
Making drug education mandatory, and starting at a really early age would probably have much better results fighting drug abuse than the resources wasted fighting the war on drugs with its emphasis on law enforcement. And ramping up more treatment for those already abusing drugs, and/or addicted is another important aspect of the paradigm shift necessary for getting a better handle on the substance abuse problems plaguing society now.
For your own sake, and especially pre-teen and teens, leave those research chemicals, and other drugs alone. If you happen to be one of those who become addicted, overdose, and maybe even die, the whole thing was avoidable, and nothing on this earth is going to change the underlying reason/s that have you wanting to experiment with drugs, and seeking those substances to fill a void in you that nothing else “seems” available to you for that relief. Believe it that drugs will only complicate things for a certain percentage of people, and end up ruining their lives. You don’t want to go down that road. It is nightmare Hollywood could not dream up.
