One new feature this year is the Brokerage Cove: featuring Pre-Owned brokerage boats, sponsored by YachtWorld.com.
According to the Website, “The granddaddy of all sailboat shows, the United States Sailboat Shows is expanding its already large selection of new and premiering sailboats to include a floating marina expected to be overflowing with used boats, presented by regional boat brokers and available for immediate sale.
Brokerage Cove, a show within a show, is an easy walk from the hundreds of brand new and premiering boats on display in downtown Annapolis. The brand new venue is just inside the Spa Creek Bridge and one block from the main show. Buses, electric shuttle bugs and water taxis will ferry attendees between the two venues and from parking lots to ticket booths providing easy access to Brokerage Cove. Show goers can cool off in fun and relaxing water taxis that run continuously between the Annapolis City Dock and St. Mary’s Cove. The price of admission includes entry into both the United States Sailboat Show and Brokerage Cove.”
The show proper is set up in Annapolis City Dock area, which is surrounded by downtown Annapolis and all its shops and Cafe’s. The best bet for parking is the Navy Stadium parking area and shuttle bus system. $10 gets you a parking spot and bus ride to and from the stadium from show opening until one hour after daily closing.
The following weekend is the annual United States Power Boat Show, held in much the same manner as the sailboat show, only featuring vendors specific to Power Boating, and a large fleet of on the water power boats you can board and examine.
Either show will whet your whistle when it comes to boating and water sports.
I’ll be there, at the sailboat show anyway, with recorder in hand, looking to interview people for my podcast, “Shooting the Breeze Sailing Podcast” which can be found over at www.theescapepods.com. Andy Schell, over at www.59-north.com will be doing a live version of his podcast Saturday Morning during a World Cruising Club seminar. Come check it out!
