Araujo’s Mexican Restaurant features authentic Mexican food, a few specialties you won’t find anywhere else and the best breakfast burritos in Denver for $1.50.
7 years ago, Eva and her husband Victor started their Mexican restaurant business that is located in the growing Jefferson Park neighborhood. Victor started with a catering truck two years before and was parked on 38th and Pecos. Customers loved the food so they decided to look for a permanent location for their business. They bought an existing restaurant that was located in Northwest Denver and the whole family is now involved in this growing business.
They have been featured in Westword and 5280 magazine for having the “Best Breakfast Burrito under $2.00” in Denver. This writer has purchased and eaten many of these burritos over the years, and our volunteers at Riverside Church love them and always ask for “burritos from Araujo’s” when we serve them lunch. But this restaurant has much more to offer.
Specialty dishes you won’t find anywhere else
Eva told me they have a few specialty dishes you can’t find anywhere else in Denver. One dish is the Enchilada Suizas that are offered in chicken, cheese or beef. The special recipe includes a special tomatillo sauce that’s not common and very tasty. Another specialty on the menu is their Caldo Tlalpeno chicken spicy soup. And if you want to try a little of everything, the Mexican Plate has a variety of everything on the menu.
Of course they are known for their $1.50 breakfast burritos that are available from 5:30am and are ready to go. They are served daily until 11:00 am and there is a special everyday with a different meat. The delicious burritos are large and they include meat, potatoes, eggs, green chile and cheese. They will definitely fill you up!
Free delivery or dine in
Araujo’s also has a $5 lunch special Monday -Friday, Tamales for $10 a dozen with a free side of green chile and they offer free deliver Monday – Friday 10am- 2pm within a 2-mile radius of the restaurant with a $10 minimum order.
Inside, customers can watch TV from two flat screens in the comfortable seating area. The world cup soccer was on when I was there ordering burritos and the customers were glued to the TV’s as Germany took on the U.S. soccer team.
They close everyday at 5pm and the restaurant is available for reservations for events like weddings, office meetings and baby showers. They can provide the authentic mexican food and beverages for events and the restaurant has seating for 64 people. They also provide catering for special events.
They give back to the community
Eva and her husband give back to the Jefferson Park community and are involved in many community events throughout the year. They offer free food to different organizations that benefit this Northwest Denver community and help with different fund raisers.
Araujo’s Mexican Restaurant has awards for their delicious breakfast burritos, but their unique specialties and friendly family service will keep you coming back. They are open Monday-Friday 5:30am-5pm. Saturday 6:30am-5pm. Sunday 7:00am-2pm. They are located at 2900 W. 26th Ave. in Denver near Federal and Eliot St.
