The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley has been open for less than a month at Universal Orlando Resort. Many people have asked me why they should visit. Isn’t it just like the existing Harry Potter area? Absolutley not! There are plenty of reasons why you should visit Universal Orlando, and Diagon Alley is one of them.
Here’s a few reasons why you should visit (specifically to see Diagon Alley):
Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts
Universal Orlando has done it again. With the opening of Diagon Alley came a brand new, ground-breaking attraction: Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts. Think back to the 7th Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (or the 2nd half of the film) and recall that Gringotts scene where Harry, Ron, and Hermoine break into Gringotts to get into Bellatrix LeStrange’s vault. The ride is based around that, however, it has it’s own storyline. Universal Orlando has incorporated a roller coaster with simulator movements and 3D scenes that make the ride a must see.
One of my favorite things about The Wizarding World of Harry Potter (Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade) is the food offerings. Diagon Alley brings a little bit more to the table, though. There’s a total of four brand new non-alcoholic beverages, two new beers, and plenty of other food offerings, including ice cream! There are plenty of flavors, including Earl Grey Lavender, Chocolate Chili, Butterbeer, and more. I’ve tried several and they have all been delicious and none have disappointed. So far, the Chocolate Chili and Clotted Cream are my favorite together.
Even More Magic
From the London water front, to the Hogwarts Express, there’s something magical within. There’s also interactive wands that allows you (as a Muggle) to perform magic in the streets of Diagon Alley (and now Hogsmeade too). It’s an even more immsersive feeling and sinks you further into JK Rowling’s work. Diagon Alley is completely magical.. and you’ll find magic around every single corner. Literally.
Universal Orlando has plenty of street entertainment when it comes to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Over in Hogsmeade, they have the singing frog choir and the students of Durmstrang and Beauxbaton. But within Diagon Alley, they bring you classic concepts straight from the book, which include Clestia Warbeck and the Banshees which sing several wonderful songs mentioned by Molly Weasly, and a puppetry show which features The Tale of the Three Brothers.
Diagon Alley within itself is magical. The next time you visit Universal Studios Florida, make sure you pass through that brick wall in London to experience all the magic for yourself. And when you’re finished, hop on the Hogwarts Express and go experience Hogsmeade.
