Shows by Widespread Panic, Method Man and Redman, and Von Stomper top the Central Iowa Concert Calendar for Wednesday, October 29. Get all the details on those shows and more below.
Legendary jam band Widespread Panic (see slideshow) is back after a short hiatus, and they will bring more than 25 years of music to Stephens Auditorium in Ames on Wednesday night for a 7:30 p.m. concert. The band got its start in a University of Georgia dorm room in 1986. They have made their name on the road, playing festivals like Bonnaroo, Wakarusa, Azalea, and others and selling out legendary venues like Radio City Music Hall, the Red Rocks Amphitheater, and the Philips Arena. Widespread Panic is known for never playing the same set list twice. They post a list backstage of every one of their songs with their last three setlists marked of on it, and then they pick each sets songs just prior to taking the stage. Tickets for Wednesday’s show are $45.50 at the box office or $55 online through Ticketmaster. The band is holding a food drive at the event as part of their Panic Fans for Food initiative. Ticketholders are encouraged to bring canned food items or cash to donate to the cause.
Method Man and Redman (pictured) bring the World Wide Rollers Tour (sponsored by The Smokers Club) to Wooly’s in Des Moines on Wednesday. Method Man is a Grammy-winning Long Island rapper and a member of the Wu-Tang Clan who has racked up three #1 solo albums and six Top 10 singles (including a #1 single). Redman is a Grammy-nominated Newark rapper and a member of the Def Squad who has totaled four #1 albums and twelve Top 20 singles (including two chart-toppers). Together the two have topped the R&B album chart and recorded five Top 20 Rap singles. B-Real, Berner, and Mick Jenkins will open the all ages show at 7 p.m. Tickets for the event are $35.

The Fort Collins folk/rock/blues/bluegrass quintet released their self-titled debut album in April. Fellow Fort Collins natives Tallgrass will open the 9 p.m. show.
