Aviva Drescher’s dad, George Teichner, got married over the weekend, and now, he’s speaking out about why he and his new wife, Dana Lavette Cody, eloped.
Just one day after it was reported Drescher had chosen to skip Teichner and Cody’s Malibu, Calif. wedding, Teichner spoke out, revealing why he and Cody wed so suddenly and discussing their upcoming second wedding.
“Our wedding was purely born from love! We do not live our lives for showbiz – rather for each other,” Teichner told Radar Online on Aug. 6. “I proposed marriage to Cody and she accepted, becoming engaged on RHONY, to share this special time in my life with my daughter Aviva, and to let people know that true love really exists.”
Although Drescher had been extremely supportive of her father’s decision to marry Cody, who is 51 years his junior, she was not in attendance at their weekend wedding (during which Cody wore sandals and Teichner wore a suit), and many fans took her absence as a stance against the marriage.
According to Radar, Teichner and Cody may still feature their wedding on Bravo — it just won’t be the quicky wedding that happened in California. Instead, it will be an even bigger celebration.
“Our formal marriage ceremony and festivity with family and good friends in attendance — lavish de facto Jewish ceremony (Cody’s choice) — will be either in Manhattan or South Beach or both!”
For now, fans will have to wait and see what the future holds for Teichner and his wife, but if the show returns, they will likely see plenty more of him.
