“Dolphin Tale 2” is a sequel to the successful 2011 Warner Bros. Pictures release, “Dolphin Tale.” It focuses on the rehabilitation of Hope, a dolphin that CMA rescued and rehabilitated. Hope was rescued as a baby from the Indian River Lagoon by Hubbs SeaWorld Research Institute, the same group that rescued Winter. Hope’s mother had passed away, and Hope had not yet learned the necessary skills to survive in the wild. Along with Winter and another bottlenose dolphin named Nicholas, Hope remains a resident of the CMA.
There is always something new and different to see and learn about at CMA. The aquarium also has river otters, sea turtles and other animals that aren’t able to be released back into the wild, in addition to animals that are temporary residents until they are able to move back into the wild. Be sure to check out the museum with props from the movie. It is located just across the bay from CMA, and guests can take a relaxing water taxi to visit it.
The “Dolphin Tale” movies have been celebrated by children and wounded soldiers who have found a life-changing motivation in the uplifting stories of these amazing animals. The prosthetics technology used for Winter’s tail has aided in the creation of advanced and better-fitting prosthetics for human patients. By visiting the CMA, guests can meet the star of the movie and learn why aquatic animals are inspirations to us all. The movie is now in theaters.
