Many couples are challenging the traditional gender norms and apparently women proposing is now a trend. Women are tired of waiting on their man, so they’re taking matters into their own hands. But is this trend a woman’s way of affirming her equality and independence or is it just an ultimatum? Should women propose to men?
It’s emasculating. It’s embarrassing. While you were dreaming about your perfect wedding and playing that fantasy out with your Barbie dolls, he was imagining the day he would find the perfect woman and get down on one knee and ask the most important question of his life. Why would you take that away from him??

There’s a reason why he hasn’t proposed yet. If he has yet to pop the question and you feel it has been an adequate amount of time, chances are, there’s a reason! Maybe he’s saving up for a ring. Maybe he has some things he wants to get in order beforehand. Or maybe he’s just not ready! And why would you want to propose to someone when you are almost 100% sure he’s not ready.

Wait to be found. Proverbs 18:22 says “He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD.” (NIV) He’s supposed to find you. Some people think it’s old-fashioned and patriarchal, but the truth is, your man is supposed to be the head of your household. And proposing to him just kind of gets that whole head of the household thing started off on the wrong foot. There’s just no reason to take matters into your own hands, wait on him and wait on God. Everything happens in due season.

Women proposing may work for some couples, but be sure you know your man before you get down on one knee. Make sure that you’re doing it for the right reason. If you know you’re both ready for marriage, but just want to be the one to propose, that’s one thing. But nine times out of ten that’s not the case. It’s usually the case that the woman is fed up and tired of waiting. You don’t want to start a marriage by pressuring a man into marrying you.
What do you think? Would you feel comfortable proposing to your man? How would you feel if your woman got down on one knee?
