According to an Oct. 5 report from EOnline.com, Rosa Mendes became the latest in a long line of WWE Divas Division superstars to suffer an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction, in an incident that aired on Total Divas. Just three months after WWE divas star, Nikki Bella, suffered a wardrobe malfunction on a televised episode of Monday Night Raw, Mendes had a little slip-up of her own.
Mendes suffered a wardrobe malfunction during a WWE photo shoot that aired on the Total Divas reality show. Mendes, 34, appears on Total Divas, adjusting her top to get ready for a photo shoot, and E! Online states that she got in trouble with the photographer for making the shoot a bit too risqué. Mendes eventually got herself together, and the shoot would go on as planned as a family-friendly, PG affair.
Despite a small wardrobe malfunction, Mendes continued on with the shoot and the photos came out looking lovely. Mendes is now at least the third WWE Divas Division star to suffer a wardrobe malfunction. Besides Nikki Bella’s wardrobe malfunction on Monday Night Raw, Brie Bella suffered one last year on the show.
What can the WWE do about these unfortunate situations? First of all, the promotion wants female pro wrestling to be taken seriously. That said, it’s important for their athletes to start wearing apparel that isn’t so revealing. Giving the WWE Divas clothing that will cover them up a bit better, would do wonders to prevent future wardrobe malfunctions.
Mendes and the Bella twins are all extremely beautiful women, but the WWE is supposed to feature kid-friendly programming. No parents want their children to see an ill-advised wardrobe malfunction during a segment that is supposed to feature nothing more than wrestling. Wardrobe malfunctions might grab headlines, but it might hurt WWE programming at the end of the day.
Following Nikki Bella’s wardrobe malfunction on WWE Monday Night Raw, the promotion vowed to never let it happen again. Sure Mendes’ wardrobe malfunction occurred on Total Divas and not an actual WWE program, but the promotion could have done a better job with keeping the situation under wraps. Nikki Bella, Rosa Mendes and Brie Bella are elite athletes, not eye candy.
Will there be any fallout from Mendes’ wardrobe malfunction? It’s unlikely that she’ll be fined by the WWE. Perhaps she’ll offer an apology on Twitter, for those who were offended. Time will tell how the situation plays out.
