A stunning view of the Sierra Peak Mountains, beautiful amenities, and unique spa services make the Glen Ivy Hot Springs Spa in Corona a must-do for anyone living or visiting the Los Angeles area. Located less than an hour outside of LA, the spa feels like a secluded resort oasis. And with year round activities and services, this is a great daycation destination.
Know before you go: Busy season runs from May through October, with between 600-800 guests coming through each day. There are two entrances for the spa, depending on whether spa services have been booked. Do arrive early for both as the lines can get very long (give yourself at least an hour before spa appointments). Spa services do not need to be booked to enjoy the pool, dining facility, bath house, mineral baths and ‘club mud’ (referred to as offerings). If you decide to have lunch at the spa, expect to wait for a table, even after the typical lunch run.
Spa offerings: Two very unique features of the spa tap into the natural resources of the area. The first feature is the thermal mineral baths supplied by two wells located on the spa property. The mineral water is a great remedy for muscle and joint aches, and at 104 degrees F, provides a soothing bath. From there, move to ‘Club Mud’, where everyone is encouraged to get a little dirty. The red clay is also naturally occurring in the area, and is mixed with a light mist of the mineral water. Be sure to bring a dark colored swim suit as the clay can stain. Once you are ‘mudded up’, allow the mud to dry either in the sun or in the Wafa drying chamber. One thing to note: as the clay is very drying, the spa recommends you avoid the face and eye area.
Spa treatments: There are also unique spa treatments that make the Glen Ivy experience complete. Once you have done the mineral baths and mud treatment, be sure to book a stint at the Grotto, an underground chamber where the staff applies a masque of aloe vera, coconut oil, and shea butter. Once the masque is applied, a heated area allows for the masque to soak in. You can also have a little fun and take home a photo souvenir of the experience, as it is one you will not soon forget.
The two body treatments are also something to consider in your spa day. While massages can be added to these treatments, the massages can be hit or miss, so be sure to talk to the therapist about his/her massage style beforehand.
Whether you plan a couple of hours or an all day excursion, the Glen Ivy Hot Springs Spa will give you the retreat you need, and have you wanting to come back again.
