In an ever changing ever competitive world, how does one rise above the normal, bring something different to the table and leave a legacy? Coach Micheal Burt, a Coach-epreneur (part coach, part entrepreneur and part leader) teaches other professionals how to package up their special, protect their confidence and become people of interest. As an accomplished author of multiple books, Coach Burt writes with a conversational style and speaks to his students and readers directly. His popular book “Zebras & Cheetahs: Look Different and Stay Agile to Survive the Business Jungle,” which was co-written with Colby Jubenville utilizes two jungle animals as a model for the qualities which professionals need to possess in order to reach their highest potential.
Zebras & Cheetahs prompted Burt to create a television show which features five professionals vying for the title of Zebra & Cheetah. The career based reality show is designed to determine who stands out and who runs the fastest. Each unique individual must share their story, deliver their special and complete a series of intense challenges. The ultimate winner of each episode is named in the board room before a panel of expert judges. Viewers are kept on the edge of their seats as sometimes the board room winner can be the dark horse of the competition. The ultimate Zebra & Cheetah may not be the person who won the Zebra & Cheetah challenges early on in the competition. The first 3 episodes offered a wide variety of challenges – never are any two episodes the same. Zebras & Cheetahs fans have watched contestants rock climb, sell BBQ on the streets, sing karaoke for a fundraiser, among other challenges way outside one’s comfort zones…..and episode 4 promises to present the most unique competitions yet.
“I was so impressed with our contestants in episode four. Each one brought incredible insight and energy to the process and came wanting to be transformed. The experience was one of the best I’ve ever had,” revealed Coach Micheal Burt.
Episode 4 is entitled “Women In Business,” as this is the first all women cast. Guess what? I was one of those five women! That’s right. After writing an article for last episode’s winner Jim Bardwell, I was inspired to upload my video for consideration. Needless to say, I went for it, and thankfully, I was chosen. Joining me on episode 4 was Christi White, Hope Tenpenny, Jennifer Provecher and Lauran Hudgins. As a willing student, I went in there ready to be coached and ready to be pushed way outside my comfort zone. I had the opportunity to watch the finished episode at our private premiere the other night, and let me tell you, it’s entertaining and suspenseful to say the least.
Coach Micheal Burt and Chief Optimizer Brock Patterson are the true rock stars you see on TV. Savannah Hughes and Jessica Alexander (episode 3 contestants) were on hand throughout the show’s process to give us advice and to offer us support. We also had an incredibly successful group of women for our expert panel (Kendra Cooke, Lori Sain Smith, Lottie McCormick & Becci Bookner). The production crew (Karl Huber and his team) were also highly professional and accomodating to work with.
In the humidity, we were turned loose, we were challenged, and we had to be resilient. Despite our discomfort and despite our nerves, we had to work to prove that WE should be named the Zebra & the Cheetah. I can’t give away too much, but you can see a little sneak of me and the four other ladies in the promo, which was released earlier this week. Every one of us look to be a little stressed…..probably because we were! I’m shown tripping at an important part in the competition. Will I recover or will I bow out right then and there? Jennifer feels out of her element. Does she persevere? Hope says she felt like she was too far away from the things that represented her. Did she have any luck? Lauran is seen running down an alley, and she can’t figure out where she’s going. Does she find her way? Christi says she’s to a place where she feels like she can help people, but how does the rest of the competition go for her?
The only way to find out the answers to all these questions is to tune in to episode 4 on Channel 5+ this weekend. Zebras & Cheetahs “Women In Business,” will air on Fri.
